Each child was given a sheet to write about the experience and lessons learned. The programme ended with a handprint activity and a group photograph, with the children.

Event Brief Description

On September 30th, 2026 the Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Club, School of Law Galgotias University held the "Know Your Rights" – Child Rights and Safety Awareness Programme at Muhfaad Primary School. The programme was created as a child- awareness activity to help young students learn about basic rights, education, personal safety and respectful behavior. The members made sure the learning process was simple, interactive and comfortable for the children.

The programme started with the members going to the school and talking to the children. The volunteers had discussions on different topics and explained important ideas using simple words. The children were told that education is a right and that every child should have a chance to learn. They were also told that no one should take their food or lunch without reason and that bullying, teasing and behavior that causes stress should not be accepted. The children were encouraged to talk to someone they trust when they face a problem or feel uncomfortable.

To help the children understand better the members also did a role-play or drama. Through this performance the children could see real-life examples of situations involving rights, bullying and respectful behavior. This way of teaching made the session more interesting than a lecture and made the children want to take part and answer questions.

There was also a session on Good Touch and Bad Touch. Two members used a paper figure of a girl to explain boundaries and basic safety in a way that was easy for the children to understand. The children were asked to recognize situations that make them uncomfortable and to understand the importance of talking to a trusted adult when something feels wrong.

After the awareness sessions each child was given a piece of paper to write about what they had learned and their experience. This activity let the children think about the programme and share what they understood in their words. Then there was a handprint activity where the children put their colorful handprints on a large sheet of paper. This activity created a shared and lasting piece of art. Encouraged all the children to take part.

For the student volunteers the programme was a chance to practice explaining social ideas to children organizing events working as a team and adjusting the way they explained things to match the age and understanding of the audience. The interaction also helped the members understand how important it is to spread awareness and take social responsibility.

The programme ended with a group photo with the children. Overall the activity was a learning experience, for both the volunteers and the children because it included awareness, interaction, creative activities and real communication.
