Celebration of World Breastfeeding Week 2025
Event Date and Year: 14 August 2025
Event Brief Description:
World Breastfeeding Week 2025 was celebrated with great enthusiasm at GIMS Hospital, Greater Noida, in collaboration with Galgotias School of Nursing and NSS Unit 4. The central theme of this year’s celebration was “Prioritize Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support System.”
Event Detailed Description:
The program was organized under the guidance of Mr. Devender Sir, Mr. Kuldeep Sir, and Ms. Astha Ma’am, with dedicated support from GIMS hospital staff.
Students of B.Sc. Nursing 3rd Semester (also NSS volunteers of Unit 4) actively participated by performing a role play in the General OPD. The role play, “Jab Sabne Diya Saath, To Muskura Utha Matritva”, highlighted how emotional, social, and workplace support empower breastfeeding mothers. It emphasized that encouragement from family and colleagues is as vital as medical advice.
In addition, students conducted poster presentations in two groups, covering:
- Nutritional requirements of breastfeeding mothers
- Health benefits of exclusive breastfeeding for mother and child
- Community roles in promoting breastfeeding
The posters were simple, informative, and well-received. The audience (men and women from the community) actively interacted and appreciated the efforts.
The event successfully conveyed that breastfeeding is not only a mother’s responsibility but a shared duty of society in creating a sustainable support system.
