The Earth Day 2026 Celebration was successfully organized by the Galgotias School of Nursing, Galgotias University, Greater Noida, on 22nd April 2026 at GIMS Hospital, Greater Noida, under the category of Environmental Health Awareness Programme. The programme was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Lekha Bist, Dean School of Nursing, and was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Anjum Abbasi. The event aimed to create awareness among healthcare learners, patients, attendants, and the general public regarding the importance of environmental protection and its direct relationship with human health and well-being.
The programme commenced at 2:00 PM in the OPD Area of GIMS Hospital with a brief introductory address emphasizing the significance of Earth Day and the global need for environmental conservation. The theme for Earth Day 2026, “Our Power, Our Planet,” was highlighted throughout the event, encouraging individuals to recognize their responsibility toward protecting natural resources and promoting sustainable living practices. The introduction also focused on how environmental degradation contributes to various health problems and why healthcare professionals should actively participate in environmental awareness activities.
The highlight of the programme was an impactful role play presented by the 4th Semester students of the School of Nursing . Implementation
The implementation of the Earth Day 2026 Awareness Programme was systematically planned and executed by the 4th Semester students of the Galgotias SCHOOL OF NURSING under the guidance of faculty coordinators. Prior to the event, students were divided into different groups and assigned responsibilities related to role play preparation, poster display, audience management, awareness activities, and programme coordination. Necessary permissions and arrangements were coordinated with the administration of GIMS Hospital, Greater Noida.
On 22nd April 2026, the programme was conducted in the OPD Area of GIMS Hospital from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM to ensure direct interaction with patients, attendants, hospital staff, and community members. The session began with a brief introduction regarding the importance of Earth Day and this year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Planet.” Students explained the significance of environmental protection and its impact on human health and community well-being.
As part of the implementation, the students performed an educational role play highlighting major environmental concerns such as pollution, deforestation, climate change, improper waste disposal, and excessive use of plastic materials. The role play was designed in a simple and interactive manner so that the audience could easily understand the harmful effects of environmental degradation on daily life and health.
The students also demonstrated preventive and corrective measures including reducing plastic use, conserving water and electricity, practicing waste segregation, maintaining cleanliness, and adopting eco-friendly habits.
