Event Detailed Description
The School of Basic Sciences, Galgotias University, under the aegis of the GU-Scientia Club, successfully organized “SciBridge: Connecting Students with Industry” on 22 May 2026 at AI-217. Centered around the theme “Bridging Academia and Industry through Peer Learning,” the event brought together undergraduate and postgraduate students for an engaging and insightful interaction with industry professionals from the pharmaceutical sector. The session was designed to provide students with practical exposure to the workings of the scientific industry and to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world professional practice. The event featured two expert speakers whose talks offered valuable perspectives on pharmaceutical research, drug development, and career pathways in industry. The first speaker, Mr. S. Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy, Principal Scientist in Process Research and Development at Chemveda Life Sciences India Pvt. Ltd., shared his extensive experience in pharmaceutical process research and development. He gave students an inside view of how industrial process R&D functions in the pharmaceutical sector, explaining the scientific and practical considerations involved in the development of new drug molecules. His talk focused on process optimization, cost-effective synthesis, and the importance of scaling reactions from laboratory research to industrial production. He also highlighted how costing, scalability, and efficiency are crucial parameters in translating scientific discoveries into commercially viable pharmaceutical products. The second speaker, Mr. Anjan Kumar Reddy, delivered a comprehensive overview of the drug development lifecycle, taking students through the journey from an initial scientific idea to final commercial distribution. He explained each stage of development—from research and discovery, lead optimization, testing and validation, to manufacturing, regulatory approvals, and market release. He also discussed the various career opportunities available at each stage, helping students understand the diverse roles within the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, including research, development, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and commercialization. One of the most engaging parts of the event was the interactive Q&A session, where students actively participated by raising questions on career growth and industry readiness. Discussions focused on the importance of internships in gaining practical experience, the need for continuous skill development among fresh graduates entering the workforce, and how emerging technologies—particularly Artificial Intelligence—are transforming research processes in industry. The speakers offered practical guidance on building relevant skills, preparing for industry roles, and adapting to the evolving scientific and technological landscape. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across the School of Basic Sciences and served as a valuable platform for peer learning, career counseling, and academia–industry interaction. By creating direct dialogue between students and professionals, SciBridge enabled participants to gain a clearer understanding of career opportunities beyond the classroom and the expectations of the modern scientific workplace. Overall, SciBridge: Connecting Students with Industry was a highly impactful initiative that inspired students to think beyond academics, explore professional opportunities in science, and prepare themselves for future careers through informed learning, networking, and practical insight.
