About the Programme

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) represents the pinnacle of academic achievement. PhD candidates devote themselves to intensive research to further knowledge in their field of study. Under faculty guidance, students cultivate the skills of an independent scholar. The heart of the PhD is an original research project that expands or challenges current thinking. Students must defend this work publicly to examine committees. The PhD trains expert researchers equipped to advance human understanding. Doctoral studies focus on asking new questions, solving complex problems with rigor and nuance, communicating ideas, and guiding others in the pursuit of truth. Ultimately, PhD recipients become lead authorities in their discipline. They join the ranks of professors, pioneering scientists, and senior advisors across sectors.
