This Policy applies to all the students, staff and visitors

Purpose

To Protect, restore, and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, battle desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and biodiversity loss due to human activities

Policy

Biodiversity Conservation: Promote biodiversity conservation by preserving natural habitats, protecting native flora and fauna, and incorporating green spaces into campus development plans. Undertake periodic biodiversity assessments to monitor and enhance the diversity of plant and animal species on campus.

Restoration Initiatives: Implement land restoration initiatives, including reforestation, soil restoration, and the removal of invasive species, to revitalize degraded areas.Establish a campus-wide plan for habitat restoration to enhance the ecological resilience of the university.

Sustainable Construction and Infrastructure: Integrate sustainable construction practices, including the use of eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient designs, and green roofs where applicable, to reduce the environmental impact of infrastructure development.

Water Management in Landscaping: Adopt water-efficient landscaping practices, including the use of native and drought-resistant plants, rainwater harvesting, and smart irrigation systems.

Waste Management and Recycling: Implement waste reduction and recycling programs, minimizing the generation of construction and landscaping waste, and promoting the recycling of materials.

Education and Outreach: Educate the university community on the importance of sustainable land use through awareness campaigns, workshops, and educational programs. Encourage research and academic initiatives focused on sustainable land management, conservation, and restoration.

Community Engagement: Collaborate with local communities and environmental organizations to share resources, knowledge, and practices for sustainable land use.
