The Department of Biotechnology & Bioengineering, School of Biosciences & Technology, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Galgotias University, successfully organized an online workshop on “Design Thinking, Critical Thinking and Innovation Design” on 14th February 2026. The workshop was designed to foster innovation-oriented mindsets by equipping participants with structured approaches to creative problem-solving, critical analysis, and design-led innovation.
The program introduced participants to design thinking methodologies, critical reasoning frameworks, ideation techniques, and innovation strategies that can be applied across academic, research, industrial, and societal contexts. Event Detailed Description
The Department of Biotechnology & Bioengineering, School of Biosciences & Technology, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Galgotias University, organized an online workshop titled “Design Thinking, Critical Thinking and Innovation Design” on 14th February 2026 from 11:00 AM onwards. The workshop was conducted with the objective of cultivating creative confidence, critical reasoning abilities, and innovation-driven problem-solving skills among participants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.
The event witnessed active participation from 25 faculty members and 90 external participants representing universities, colleges, and research institutions from different regions of the country. The workshop focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of design thinking principles and their application in addressing complex challenges through innovative and user-centric solutions.
Expert sessions highlighted key concepts such as empathy mapping, problem identification, brainstorming, ideation, prototyping, testing, and innovation management. Participants were introduced to structured frameworks that encourage critical analysis, evidence-based decision-making, and collaborative problem-solving. Real-world case studies and practical examples demonstrated how design thinking can be effectively used to develop sustainable solutions in education, research, industry, healthcare, and community development.
Interactive activities, group discussions, and reflective exercises encouraged participants to apply the learned concepts to practical scenarios.
