Excellence in Process Quality: Six-Sigma Green Belt Certification Program
As a critical component of its industry-readiness initiative, the School of Aviation, Logistics and Tourism Management (SALTM) organised a specialised Six-Sigma Green Belt Certification Program for the final-year students of BBA and MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. This advanced training was conducted in collaboration with the Logistics Skill Council (LSC), a premier body under the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), to equip students with globally recognised process improvement methodologies.
Importance and Student Benefits
In the competitive landscape of logistics, the ability to eliminate waste and ensure precision is a vital leadership trait. This program empowered our students with:
- Mastery of DMAIC Methodology: Students gained deep expertise in the Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) framework, enabling them to solve complex operational problems using data-driven logic.
- Advanced Statistical Problem-Solving: The training provided hands-on experience with statistical tools like Root Cause Analysis, Pareto Charts, and Process Mapping, allowing students to identify and eliminate defects at their source.
- Operational Efficiency & Cost Reduction: By learning to reduce process variability and remove non-value-adding activities, students are now prepared to drive significant cost savings and improve overall organisational profitability.
- Enhanced Leadership Credentials: Holding a Six-Sigma Green Belt designates a student as a "Process Excellence Leader," opening doors to senior roles in quality management, operations, and strategic consultancy.
Alignment with NSQF (National Skill Qualification Framework)
This program is strictly aligned with the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) levels mandated for advanced professional certifications. By adhering to NSQF standards, the certification ensures that the skills acquired by our students are not only industry-relevant but also standardised across the national vocational landscape. This alignment provides our graduates with a clear, recognised progression pathway, making their competencies easily verifiable by employers and facilitating their transition into high-stakes roles within the global supply chain ecosystem.
Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The Six-Sigma Green Belt training is a powerful driver for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, integrating ethical and efficient practices into professional education. The program directly supports
- SDG 4 (Quality Education): by providing advanced technical training that significantly improves student employment prospects.
- SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production): by training students to optimise resource use and eliminate operational waste.
- SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure): by building resilient, defect-free supply chain
- SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth): The mastery of efficiency-driving tools is also supported by fostering productive workplaces and economic sustainability.
- SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): through the collaborative effort with the Logistics Skill Council (NSDC), exemplifying and showcasing the impact of institutional alliances in bridging the skill gap.
Sculpting the Future of Lean Logistics
At SALTM, we are dedicated to producing graduates who are not just managers but transformational leaders. By integrating Six-Sigma methodologies into our curriculum, we ensure that Galgotias University graduates possess the analytical rigour and process discipline required to lead the world toward a more efficient and sustainable future.
