Event brief description
The Internship & Placement Cell, School of Law, Galgotias University, organised the Capacity Development Programme & Industry Orientation in Corporate Legal Practice from 12th to 25th September 2026. Conducted over eight sessions, the programme aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the expectations of the legal industry, with a focus on industry exposure, professional interaction and placement readiness.
Students interacted with practitioners from AZB & Partners, S.S. Rana & Co., Tech Mahindra, Gabify, Inova Solutions, CorpLit Consultants and the Supreme Court Bar. The sessions covered intellectual property in the digital environment, trademark practice, the role of in-house counsel, contract drafting and life-cycle management, commercial litigation and arbitration, cybersecurity and data breaches, corporate restructuring before the NCLT, and recruitment expectations in the legal industry.
Alongside substantive law, the programme emphasised practical drafting, verification of AI-generated research, honesty in CVs and interviews, confidentiality, ownership of work and professional conduct. All sessions followed an interactive format built around real-world examples, hypothetical problems and direct questioning, and the programme concluded with a placement-readiness session by the HR team of S.S. Rana & Co.
Event Detailed Description
The programme was conducted in eight interactive sessions, each led by an industry practitioner, progressing from substantive areas of corporate law to professional and placement readiness.
Day 1 (12th September): Dr. Abhimanyu Chopra discussed Intellectual Property in the digital and commercial environment, covering domain-name disputes, cyber-squatting, personality rights, online scams, jurisdiction over foreign websites, dynamic injunctions, counterfeit investigations through test purchases, and the need for timely action against online piracy. He encouraged students to develop practical, cost-conscious and solution-oriented approaches.
Day 2 (16th September): Mr. Pranit Biswas explained trademark clearance searches, prior use, goodwill and risk assessment, and stressed business-oriented client advice, including settlements and assignments. Students learnt that an IP lawyer’s role extends well beyond filing applications. He also discussed misuse of AI-generated content and conducted a problem-solving exercise on trademark issues.
Day 3 (17th September): Mr. Vineet Vij and Mr. Rahul Sharma explained the role of in-house counsel, contract drafting and negotiation, contract life-cycle management, confidentiality, pre-existing intellectual property, dispute-resolution clauses and payment terms, stressing clarity over complex legal language. Students also understood how technology and AI-based tools support, but do not replace, professional judgement.
Day 4 (19th September): Mr. Rishi Kapoor addressed commercial litigation management, the importance of legal notices, and forum selection among arbitration, NCLT, MSME mechanisms and commercial suits. He also discussed financial and operational creditors, effective recovery and trade-secret disputes, encouraging students to view disputes from both legal and business perspectives.
Day 5 (22nd September): Mr. Sahil Chopra adopted an interview-style approach on drafting legal notices and honesty in CVs and interviews. Students advised on a hypothetical cloud data breach, considering liability, protection of remaining data, notification of affected parties and reporting to authorities. The interaction served as a reality check on professional expectations.
Day 6 (23rd September): Ms. Vini Varma emphasised proactive lawyering, verification of AI-generated research, the Bluebook, context-specific contractual analysis, industry-specific regulatory knowledge, and professional conduct and honesty during interviews. She also encouraged students to reflect on their reasons for choosing law.
Day 7 (24th September): Adv. S.P. Singh Chawla explained corporate restructuring, including mergers, demergers, undertakings, compromises and arrangements under Sections 230–232 of the Companies Act, 2013, the role of the NCLT and first- and second-motion applications, urging students to read the bare Act.
Day 8 (25th September): Ms. Pooja Thakur and Ms. Renu Mehndiratta explained law-firm recruitment processes, internship conduct, ownership of work, confidentiality and role-specific CVs, and shared a placement-readiness checklist covering CV review, organisation research, communication practice and mock interviews.

Event Outcome
The programme successfully connected classroom learning with the practical realities of corporate legal practice. Over eight sessions, students gained exposure to the perspectives of law-firm partners, in-house counsel, litigators, a start-up founder and recruitment professionals.
Students developed a practical understanding of intellectual property enforcement in the digital environment, trademark clearance and risk assessment, contract drafting and life-cycle management, commercial litigation strategy and forum selection, insolvency-related remedies, and corporate restructuring before the NCLT. A recurring lesson was that effective legal advice must be practical, cost-conscious and aligned with the client’s commercial objectives.
Interactive exercises on trademark problems, legal notices and a data-breach scenario strengthened students’ ability to analyse facts, identify risks and communicate their reasoning with confidence. Students also became more aware of the need to verify AI-generated information, read the bare Act and original judgments, and understand industry-specific regulation.
The programme contributed directly to placement readiness through guidance on honest, role-specific CVs, interview preparation, professional conduct, confidentiality, ownership of work and receptiveness to feedback. Overall, it helped students shift from a student mindset to a professional one and prepared them better for internships, placements and careers in corporate legal practice.
