The Department of Pharmacy at Galgotias University, in collaboration with the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Delhi Branch, organized a guest lecture titled “Building a Career in Global Pharmacovigilance: Opportunities & Challenges” on September 25, 2024. The session featured Ms. Vaishnavi Vetsa, who shared her extensive knowledge and experience with the participants. The guest lecture effectively highlighted the opportunities and challenges in pharmacovigilance, inspiring students to explore this critical area within the pharmaceutical industry. Additionally, a free medical camp offering eye and dental check-ups, as well as general health assessments, was conducted in association with Apollo Clinical and Clove Dental from September 25th to 28th, 2024. Two related activities were also included in the program.

Event Detailed Description

The Department of Pharmacy at Galgotias University, in collaboration with the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Delhi Branch, organized a guest lecture titled “Building a Career in Global Pharmacovigilance: Opportunities & Challenges” on September 25, 2024, on the occasion of World Pharmacist Day. The session featured Ms. Vaishnavi Vetsa, an expert in the field, who shared her extensive knowledge and experience with the participants. Her presentation effectively highlighted the opportunities and challenges within pharmacovigilance, inspiring students to explore this critical area of the pharmaceutical industry. Prof. S.K. Abdul Rahaman, the Dean of SMAS, concluded the session and presented a certificate of appreciation to Ms. Vaishnavi Vetsa as a token of thanks.

The Department of Pharmacy, in collaboration with Apollo Clinical and Clove Dental, organized a free medical camp from September 25th to 28th, 2024, in addition to this guest lecture. The goal of this event was to promote health awareness among the university community by providing eye and dental check-ups and general health assessments. A total of over 1,500 staff, students, and supporting staff participated in the medical check-up, reflecting the success of this initiative.

Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Mallikarjuna Babu, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Avadhesh Kumar, and Registrar Dr. Nitin Gaur inaugurated the medical camp, emphasizing the growing demand for pharmacy professionals in this field.

On September 28th, the medical camp also extended its services to Gharbhara Village, further demonstrating the university's commitment to community health and well-being.

The program incorporated two related activities—elocution and essay writing competitions—to enhance the educational experience. These activities encouraged participants to express their understanding of the role of pharmacists and their relevance in today's healthcare landscape. The winners were awarded with certificates and prizes, recognizing their achievements and encouraging their continued engagement in such critical discussions.

Overall, the event not only provided valuable insights into the role of pharmacists in pharmacovigilance but also reinforced the university's dedication to health education and community service.
