Event Date and year : 09.04.2025
Event brief description
On the occasion of World Health Day, the Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Club of the School of Law, in collaboration with the School of Nursing, Galgotias University, and Bakson Multispeciality Hospital, organized a health awareness and medical outreach event at Alipura Village. Themed “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” this initiative focused on maternal and newborn health, aiming to spread awareness and ensure access to basic healthcare services for women in rural areas. The event featured a wide range of health services including free medical check-ups, blood tests, eye examinations, gynecological consultations, and distribution of menstrual hygiene kits. These services were aimed at addressing the primary health concerns of women and young girls, particularly those who lack access to regular medical support.
Volunteers from the Legal Aid Clinic also played a significant role by conducting awareness sessions on important government schemes such as PMJAY (Ayushman Bharat), Janani Suraksha Yojana, LaQshya Yojana, and the Ayushman Card Scheme. To ensure a deeper impact, they conducted door-to-door workshops and surveys, interacting directly with community members to assess their awareness and encourage participation in these beneficial schemes.
Event Detailed Description
The Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Club of the School of Law, in collaboration with the School of Nursing, Galgotias University and Bakson Multispeciality Hospital, organized a special event to celebrate World Health Day. The event was held in Alipura Village and was based on this year’s global theme — “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures.” The aim was to promote maternal and newborn health, create awareness about healthcare schemes, and provide basic health services to underprivileged women in rural areas. The event was attended by many women and girls from the village. A Free Health Check-up Camp was set up where doctors and nurses provided general medical check-ups, blood tests, eye checkups, and gynecological consultations. These services were important for women who rarely get access to proper healthcare due to financial or social barriers. One of the highlights of the event was the distribution of menstrual hygiene kits to women and adolescent girls to promote better hygiene and health awareness.
Apart from the medical services, the volunteers from the Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Club took an active role in spreading awareness about various government health schemes. They conducted sessions explaining schemes like:
- PMJAY (Ayushman Bharat) – which provides free health insurance to economically weaker sections
- Janani Suraksha Yojana – aimed at reducing maternal and child mortality,
- Ayushman Card Scheme – which allows access to free treatment in listed hospitals,
- LaQshya Yojana – which improves the quality of maternal care in hospitals.
To ensure that this awareness reached every corner of the village, the volunteers also went door-to-door. They interacted with local women and families, explained these schemes in simple language, and even helped them understand how to register and avail the benefits. Surveys were also conducted to understand the current health condition of the women in the village and to identify gaps in awareness and access to government support. This event was more than just a health camp. It was a step towards creating a healthier and more informed community. By combining legal awareness with healthcare services, the event helped bridge the gap between the government’s welfare programs and the people who need them the most. The active involvement of the faculty members and student volunteers made the event a great success. It was also a learning experience for the students, who got to interact with the community directly and understand their real-life problems. Most importantly, the event left a positive impact on the women and girls of the village, who walked away not only with health checkups and hygiene kits, but also with knowledge, confidence, and support.
