Event brief description –The Department of Civil Engineering at Galgotias Polytechnic successfully organized a highly insightful Workshop on AutoCAD & STAAD Pro on April 5th, 2025. The workshop was aimed at enhancing the technical proficiency of students in essential design and analysis software widely used in the civil engineering industry.The session was conducted by Mr. Rupesh Kumar Jha, Director of Educaed Designs Pvt. Ltd., Greater Noida. With his extensive industrial experience and deep knowledge in structural design and drafting, Mr. Jha provided the participants with practical insights into the applications of AutoCAD for drafting and STAAD Pro for structural analysis and design.

Event Detailed Description- A workshop on “AutoCAD & STAAD Pro” was successfully organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, Galgotias Polytechnic, on 5th April 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Room F-106, Campus-1, Galgotias University. The primary aim of the workshop was to enhance the technical capabilities of students by offering practical exposure to two of the most widely used software tools in the engineering industry—AutoCAD for drafting and STAAD Pro for structural analysis and design.

The session was led by Mr. Rupesh Kumar Jha, Director of Educaed Designs Pvt. Ltd., Greater Noida. With his extensive industrial experience and technical proficiency, Mr. Jha delivered a highly engaging and informative session that catered to both Civil and Mechanical Engineering students. He introduced the students to the interface of AutoCAD, explaining how it can be effectively used for 2D drafting across various engineering disciplines. For civil engineering students, he demonstrated the creation of structural layouts and floor plans, while mechanical students were guided on machine component drawings and part detailing using AutoCAD.

The second half of the workshop focused on STAAD Pro, a powerful tool for structural analysis. Mr. Jha explained the step-by-step process of modeling, assigning material properties, applying loads, and analyzing results. He emphasized how STAAD Pro helps civil engineers in designing safe and cost-efficient structures, while also highlighting how the principles of load-bearing and structural simulation can benefit mechanical engineers working on design and structural integrity of mechanical systems.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of both branches, who appreciated the hands-on approach and relevance of the content to real-world engineering problems. The interactive session not only deepened their software proficiency but also broadened their understanding of interdisciplinary applications. The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, making the workshop a fruitful learning experience for all attendees.
