The B.Ed. third-semester students of the School of Education, Galgotias University, visited Arya Gurukul Orphanage, Tilak Nagar, Delhi, on 21st September 2025, engaging children in interactive activities, games, and yoga sessions. The visit sensitized student-teachers to the needs of underprivileged children and nurtured values of empathy, inclusivity, and social service, reinforcing their pivotal role as future educators. This initiative directly supported Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 (Quality Education).
Event Detailed Description
The B.Ed. students of the School of Education, Galgotias University, visited Arya Gurukul Orphanage, Tilak Nagar, Delhi, an institution founded by Shri Neeraj Arya with the noble mission of providing care and education to underprivileged children. The visit was organized with the objectives of sensitizing student-teachers to the needs of orphanage children, understanding the challenges they face, and cultivating values of empathy, social service, and human dignity.
The orphanage currently houses children aged 3 to 15 years, whose educational and developmental needs are supported through sponsorships in a nurturing environment. During the visit, the 34 student-teachers along with 1 faculty mentor conducted a variety of meaningful and interactive activities. Games such as Atlas and Draw the Objects were organized to enhance geographical awareness and memory skills in a playful manner. A short yoga session was also held, introducing the children to simple breathing and stretching exercises to promote physical and mental well-being. The children participated with enthusiasm and joy, making the interaction lively and impactful.
The program commenced with a traditional havan ceremony, after which the hosts graciously served breakfast to the visitors. The spiritual atmosphere and warm hospitality of Arya Gurukul created a strong sense of community and belonging among all participants. The visit was coordinated under the mentorship of Dr. Shri Kant Dwivedi.
Overall, the visit served as a valuable experiential learning opportunity for our student-teachers. It not only provided them with the chance to connect with children from diverse backgrounds but also reinforced the significance of empathy, inclusivity, and service in the teaching profession. This event strongly aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 (Quality Education).
