Event Detailed Description

On a bright and memorable morning, the students of the 1st year, School of Law, Galgotias University, embarked on an academic visit to the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India—an experience that turned out to be both inspiring and profoundly educational. As aspiring legal professionals, this opportunity provided an unparalleled window into the practical functioning and legacy of the Indian judiciary.

The day commenced with the students gathering at the e-Seva Kendra of the Supreme Court, where they were welcomed and issued entry passes. The process, though procedural, instilled a sense of anticipation and discipline. What followed was a guided tour of the Supreme Court premises, which included the newly constructed building, the Advocates’ Chambers, and the prestigious Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Library. One of the most impactful moments of the visit was the opportunity to witness live court proceedings. The students were seated in various courtrooms and observed the advocacy and arguments presented by eminent legal professionals, including the renowned senior counsel Mr. Harish Salve. Watching him argue with precision, logic, and legal acumen was not just educational—it was inspirational. His courtroom presence offered students an ideal of advocacy to aspire to. Adding to the significance of the day, students were present during a ceremonial bench session held in honour of Hon’ble Justice Bela M. Trivedi. The formal proceedings, steeped in judicial tradition, offered a glimpse into the customs and respect accorded to members of the judiciary.

Another highlight of the day was the visit to the Judges’ Library, one of the largest legal libraries in Asia. The Director General of the Library addressed the students, sharing valuable insights into the evolution of the Indian judiciary and the historical journey of the Constitution of India. The students were especially privileged to view the original copy of the Constitution—a powerful and humbling moment that left an indelible mark on all present.
