Application: This Policy applies to all the students and staff.

Purpose: GU emphasizes on environmental quality both in and around the campus. In addition to protecting its own environment by implementing its green campus initiatives and maintaining pollution free green and clean campus, GU takes serious initiative in minimizing pollution of water bodies and marine environment.

This policy is formulated with the primary aim to bring awareness about marine pollution and support measures to reduce marine pollution.

Policy

  1. Maintenance of water bodies: GU aims to provide the best services to the students in all the possible ways, the University has rain water harvesting , STP plant. In addition, GU University takes adequate measures to ensure no drainage of toxic/hazardous waste into the nearest water body.
  1. Faculty and staff are advised to minimize the use of papers and perform the tasks digitally. In addition to going paperless in the classroom, the University has also introduced "Learning Management System" wherein references, notes, syllabus question banks, study material is stored and shared on the e-platform, avoiding massive usage of paper.
  1. The GU Operation and Maintenance department has an important role to ensure the wastewater/waste quality parameters and disposal are on par with the SPCB/CPCB guidelines. The operation department also shall monitor and evaluate the environmental aspects like water, air, soil, and noise and take control measures accordingly.
  2. The Schools and Departments of GU promote the voluntary adoption of pro-environment behavior in students and societies through campaigns and outreach programs.
