Online lecture on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR): The Foundation to the Knowledge Economy

On 9th April 2025, the School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS), Galgotias University, organized an enlightening Guest Lecture on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) – The Foundation to the Knowledge Economy” through an online Zoom platform. The session aimed to create awareness and deepen understanding of the critical role that IPR plays in fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic development in the modern knowledge-driven world.
The esteemed speaker for the session was Mr. Yasir Abbas Zaidi, Examiner of Patents and Designs (Group "A" Gazetted Officer), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. With his extensive expertise in intellectual property law and policy, Mr. Zaidi provided valuable insights into the significance of protecting intellectual creations and how IPR serves as a catalyst for sustainable growth and technological advancement.
The session was convened under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Shagun Agarwal, Dean, SAHS, and was coordinated by Dr. Sumbul Ansari, Assistant Professor, Department of Physiotherapy, SAHS.
The lecture proved highly informative and interactive, benefitting students, faculty members, and budding innovators alike. Participants gained practical knowledge on patent filing procedures, the strategic importance of IPR in academia and industry, and the global framework of intellectual property protection.
