The School of Law, Galgotias University, successfully organized a one-day Workshop on Legal Research Methodology, aimed at enhancing the research capabilities of budding legal scholars and academicians. The event was held under the inspiring leadership and continuous support of Ms. Aradhana Galgotia, Director - Operations, Galgotias University, whose encouragement has always been instrumental in promoting academic excellence within the institution.

The workshop began with a motivational inaugural address by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) K. Mallikharjuna Babu, who emphasized the pivotal role of rigorous legal research in shaping effective legal systems and policymaking. His words were followed by valuable guidance from Prof. (Dr.) Aditya Tomer, Dean, School of Law, who highlighted the importance of methodology in ensuring the credibility and relevance of legal research. The session was also graced by Dr. Moumita Sen Chakraborty, Associate Dean, who facilitated the proceedings with warmth and precision.

The workshop was thoughtfully structured into three insightful sessions, each led by distinguished speakers from the legal and academic fraternity. Prof. (Dr.) Anisur Rehman, Professor at the Centre for West Asian Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, delivered a comprehensive session on the conceptual foundations of legal research, tracing its evolution and relevance in a globalized context. Prof. (Dr.) B.T. Kaul, Former Chairperson, Delhi Judicial Academy, and Ex-Professor In-charge at LC-II, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, brought in a pragmatic perspective, discussing the nuances of doctrinal and non-doctrinal legal research methods. He emphasized the significance of methodological clarity in legal writing and practice. The final session was led by Prof. (Dr.) Mehraj Ud-din Mir, Former Vice Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir, who provided a rich overview of empirical legal research and its emerging importance in policy-oriented studies.

Each session was designed to foster intellectual engagement and practical understanding, and the active participation of LL.M. and Ph.D. scholars added great value to the discussions. The workshop served as a platform for students and faculty to reflect on current research practices, explore innovative approaches, and gain guidance from experts in the field.

The contributions of student coordinators Anjali Mallik, Kaushal Kumar, and Mehak Rastogi were equally commendable.
