Program Theme
The moot court competition was specially curated for first-year law students to provide them with a foundational platform to explore and experience the art of legal advocacy. The event aimed to introduce students to the fundamentals of courtroom procedures, legal research, and oral argumentation, thereby nurturing essential skills from the very onset of their legal education. Through structured rounds, focused mentorship, and academic engagement, the competition sought to instill confidence, critical thinking, and a passion for the law among first-year participants, fostering their early integration into the mooting culture and professional legal discourse.
Description
The competition formally commenced with the draw of lots conducted to determine the fixtures of the preliminary rounds. Subsequently, memorials were exchanged between the participating teams. This set the stage for a fair and transparent evaluation of oral submissions, ensuring parity of access to opposing teams' arguments.
Day 0: 9th April, 2025
RESEARCHER'S TEST
The Researcher’s Test was administered on the second preparatory day of the competition. Researchers from each participating team attempted a comprehensive 30-mark examination, comprising both objective and subjective questions. This test evaluated the legal acumen, analytical reasoning, and research depth of the team researchers—an essential pillar of moot court preparation.
Day 1: 10th April, 2025
PRELIMINARY ROUNDS
The Preliminary Rounds commenced at 11:20 AM on 10th April, 2025. A total of 10 teams competed across 5 courtrooms, with each team getting the opportunity to argue from both petitioner and respondent sides, in accordance with the power match system.
The rounds were presided over by experienced faculty judges who assessed the teams based on their advocacy, legal reasoning, articulation, courtroom etiquette, and adherence to procedural norms.
At the conclusion of the preliminary rounds, the top four teams qualified for the semi-finals:
- Team Code 19
- Team Code 14
- Team Code 03
- Team Code 09
Day 2: 11th April, 2025
SEMI-FINALS AND FINAL ROUND
The Semi-Finals were conducted on the morning of 11th April, 2025, where the aforementioned four teams competed in knockout rounds. Following intensive arguments and close evaluation, the finalists emerged as:

- Team Code 03
The Final Round was conducted in the presence of a distinguished bench comprising:
- Advocate Rodney D. Ryder
- Dr. Moumita Sen
- Ms. Avantika Tiwari
The judges engaged with the finalists on complex aspects of contract law, force majeure clauses, and commercial damages. The final saw exemplary advocacy by both teams, culminating in Team Code 14 being declared the Winner, while Team Code 03 was adjudged the Runner-Up.
In acknowledgment of excellence demonstrated by participants, the following awards were conferred:

- Best Memorial: Team Code 09
- Best Researcher: Vikash Kumar (Team Code 01)
- Best Speaker: Yamikani C. Kwenda (Team Code 14)
CONCLUSION.
The moot court competition not only honed the advocacy and research skills of budding legal professionals but also fostered a spirit of fair competition, legal reasoning, and procedural decorum. The event concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates, leaving a lasting impression on participants and the judging panel alike.
