International Breastfeeding week THEME- “Closing the gap: Breastfeeding support for all”

Event brief description 

Galgotias school of Nursing organised international breastfeeding week, theme – “closing the gap: Breastfeeding support for all” collaboration with NSS. It was community awareness programme conducted at DIET Dankaur G.B. Nagar. it was our privellage to create awareness among females of Dankaur. we were 5 faculties who went to DIET Dankaur and gathered females of rural area to educate them and give health education. All the faculties imparted knowledge about benefits of breastfeeding what are the myths followed by people, should not be taken forward. Breastfeeding techniques were been told so that there must not be any discomfort for the neonate or the lactating mother. There were few queries asked by females was solved by all the faculties present there. Pamphlets were distributed for better understanding and further record so they can refer to images made on that pamphlet for future use. Sanitary napkins were distributed and medical health clinic facility was also provided, to do health assessment of the lactating mother and distribution of folic acid tablets and ORS was done by our midwifery Nurse. After the assessment of the females, we gave them a questionnaire to fill required details for our record. Then principal of DIET came and expressed his views about this event appreciated Galgotias school of Nursing faculties who took initiative to give health education and create awareness among people in rural areas. We are thankful to our hon. Dean school of Nursing Prof. Dr. Lekha Bist; to guide us to organise this event and made it a success we all got such positive feedback after our programme all females were so happy to get new learning and agree to follow same from that day onwards. At the end we distributed refreshment and express gratitude to the organisation gave opportunity to express our views on the theme for the day.
