Industry Visit to Mother Dairy, Patparganj, New Delhi
The School of Business, Galgotias University, successfully organized an industry visit to Mother Dairy’s Patparganj Plant in New Delhi on 25th June 2025. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to one of Asia’s largest and most technologically advanced milk processing units. This initiative is part of our continued effort to bridge theoretical learning with real-world industry practices.
Mother Dairy, Established in 1974 under Operation Flood, Mother Dairy’s Patparganj facility spans across 50 acres and processes over 41 lakh litres of milk daily. The plant sources milk from nearly 10 lakh farmers across 25,000 villages and is a prime example of sustainable agribusiness, automation, and rural empowerment. The plant employs 23–25 rigorous quality checks, operates under full automation, and follows strict hygiene and safety protocols—making it a model facility in India’s dairy and FMCG sector.
Key Highlights of the Visit
- Facility Tour: Students were taken through different processing sections including milk reception, pasteurization, homogenization, packaging, and cold storage.
- Quality & Automation: The team explained in detail the multi-stage quality assurance protocols and demonstrated the use of SCADA-based automation systems to maintain hygiene, efficiency, and traceability.
- Sustainability Practices: Students learned about energy-efficient technologies, wastewater recycling, and packaging innovations used by the plant to ensure environmental responsibility.
- Supply Chain Insights: The session provided a detailed understanding of logistics, inventory control, and distribution networks, showcasing how Mother Dairy maintains consistency across 2,500+ retail outlets in Delhi-NCR.
