ISIEINDIA Organizes Indian Karting Race & Formula Imperial 2024 at Galgotias University

Day 1

The Imperial Society of Innovation Engineers (ISIEINDIA), a leading organization in India focused on E-mobility, innovation, and engineering skills development, successfully kicked off the highly anticipated Formula Imperial and Indian Karting Race 2024 at Galgotias University. This week-long motorsports event, dedicated to Formula Racing and Go-Karting, attracted 42 teams with over 1,000 participants from various states, including West Bengal, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.

The opening ceremony, held on October 5 at the university’s Open Theater , was hosted by Dr. Pravin and Dr. Nidhi, Assistant Professors from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Chancellor Shri Suneel Galgotia emphasized the importance of such events in fostering technical innovation, stating, “Events like Formula Imperial provide students with the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge in a practical, competitive environment, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the field of motorsports.”

Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias Education Group, echoed this sentiment, saying, “The future of engineering lies in hands-on experience and innovation. By participating in events like these, students gain valuable skills that will shape their careers and prepare them for the rapidly evolving automotive industry.”

The event comprises two major categories: the Indian Karting Race Challenge (IKR) and the Formula Imperial Challenge. Among the prominent teams competing in the karting category are:

XLR8 from Jadavpur University, West Bengal

Team Inspired Carter Gravity from BITS Pilani, Rajasthan

Team Kinesis from IIT Jammu

Team Daksh from NIT Punjab

Team Roadways Racer from NIT Andhra Pradesh

In the Formula Imperial category, notable teams include:

TEAM IITK Motorsport from IIT Kanpur

Team Vaayu from O.P. Jindal University, Chhattisgarh

These teams, after undergoing rigorous technical inspections, will compete in the final race at the prestigious Buddh International Circuit on October 11, 2024.

During the ceremony, Dr. Vinod, representing ISIEINDIA, expressed his delight at the overwhelming participation, thanking the teams for their enthusiasm and commitment. He emphasized the event’s goal of promoting motorsports as a viable career path and how the hands-on experience gained here enhances students' employability and technical skills.

Galgotias University Vice-Chancellor, Dr. KM Babu, noted that this was his third time attending the event. He praised the growing interest in motorsports and highlighted how the event serves as an excellent platform for students to showcase their technical prowess.

Key industry leaders also provided insights and encouragement to the participants. Mr. Karan from JK Tyre underscored the importance of go-karting as a grassroots entry point for motorsports professionals, sharing his own early experiences in the industry. He wished all participants success in their future endeavors.

Mr. Souvick Chakraborty, Country Head of ANSYS India and SAARC, discussed ANSYS’ role in sponsoring the event and how they support students with software licensing and training, helping to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry applications.

Mr. Sanchit Chopra, Senior Vice President at EaseMyTrip, motivated the students by sharing his professional journey, reminding them of the importance of resilience and hard work. He spoke about the changing travel industry and how perseverance can lead to success in any field.

Shri Rajesh, Assistant Director of the Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, NCR, commended the event for its alignment with India’s Skill India mission, which aims to equip young people with practical skills for future careers in engineering and entrepreneurship.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sudhir Kumar Singh, Dean of Engineering, who expressed his deep appreciation to the Chancellor, CEO, Vice-Chancellor, and all esteemed guests for their support. A group photograph with all participants and guests marked the beginning of a thrilling and competitive week ahead.

Formula Imperial 2024 is not just a showcase of motorsport talent but also serves as a vital platform for skill development, enhancing the technical expertise and career prospects of India’s future engineers.

Day 2

Day 2 of ISIEINDIA Event at Galgotias University: Technical Inspections Underway

On the second day of the ISIEINDIA Formula Imperial and Indian Karting Race event at Galgotias University, technical inspections of all Go-Kart and Formula teams were conducted. The day began at 9 AM with teams completing their registration process before attending a briefing session led by the technical inspectors. 

During the briefing, team captains were informed about the event’s processes, inspection requirements, safety guidelines, and the rounds to follow. Afterward, teams lined up their vehicles for the first round of inspections, which covered over 50 mechanical, electrical, and safety parameters. Key mechanical checks included material selection, welding, ground clearance, and wheelbase, while safety inspections focused on components such as fuses, battery packs, and MCBs. 

With all teams eagerly preparing for the next phase of competition, the event promises an exciting journey ahead.

Day 3

On Day 3 of the ongoing ISIEINDIA Formula Imperial 2024 event at Galgotias University, the final round of technical inspections will take place, providing teams with their last opportunity to qualify. This inspection will ensure that all vehicles meet the necessary mechanical, electrical, and safety standards to proceed in the competition.

Additionally, an expert talk on the topic "Recent Trends in the Automotive Industry" is scheduled for 3 PM in the university auditorium. The session will be led by Mayank Dwivedi, Senior Technology Expert from Ansys. This talk is expected to provide valuable insights to all participating teams and engineering students, offering a deep dive into the latest innovations in the automotive sector.

With both the final technical inspection and expert session planned, Day 3 is set to be a crucial and informative day for all participants.

Day 4

Day 4: Final Technical Round Completed at ISIEINDIA Formula Imperial 2024, Expert Talk on Automotive Trends Held

On the fourth day of the ISIEINDIA Formula Imperial 2024 event at Galgotias University, the final round of technical inspections was successfully completed. Teams utilized the hot pit to fix any issues with their vehicles, and qualified teams are now prepared for the brake test, acceleration test, and cross pad test scheduled for tomorrow.

An expert talk on the topic "Recent Trends in the Automotive Industry" was delivered by *Mayank Dwivedi*, Senior Technology Expert at ANSYS, to all the participating teams and mechanical engineering students of the university. The event commenced with a bouquet presentation to the guest by DSW and Chief Proctor Dr. PKS Nain. 

During his talk, Mayank Dwivedi discussed various aspects of smart manufacturing, design, and artificial intelligence (AI). He also engaged with students on topics related to internship and job opportunities in the industry. The session concluded with a memento presentation to the guest by Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Avadhesh Kumar. The event was well-attended by students and faculty members of the Mechanical Engineering department.

Additionally, first-year Mechanical Engineering students, accompanied by faculty members, visited all the participating teams. They interacted with team members, discussing design challenges, technical issues, and innovations in the electric vehicle market. This visit provided students with valuable technical insights into karting design and engineering, as well as practical, hands-on experience. They gained knowledge of event procedures such as technical inspections and safety protocols, while also expanding their professional network through interactions with peers and industry experts. The event offered students significant industry exposure, highlighting real-world applications of their mechanical engineering skills.

Day 5

Day 5: 21 Teams Qualify in Go-Kart, 8 in Formula Imperial at ISIEINDIA event 2024 at Galgotias University

Following the completion of technical inspections, 21 out of 26 teams in the Go-Kart category and 8 out of 16 teams in the Formula Imperial category have qualified to advance in the ISIEINDIA Go-Kart and Formula Imperial 2024 event. On Day 5, these qualified teams participated in the brake test and acceleration test held on the Galgotias University campus.

Tomorrow, the teams will face the Cross Pad test, which evaluates the manoeuvrability, cornering ability on flat surfaces, and driver’s skills while making constant radius turns. The results of this round will determine which teams are fully prepared to compete in the grand finale.

The final race will be held at the prestigious Buddh International Circuit on October 11, where the top qualified teams will vie for the championship title.

Day 6

Finale Results: Winners Crowned at Indian Karting Race 2024 at Buddh International Circuit

Buddh International Circuit, October 11, 2024 – The highly anticipated finale of the ISIEINDIA Indian Karting Race and Formula Imperial 2024 concluded in thrilling fashion at the Buddh International Circuit. Teams from across India showcased their engineering and driving skills, with the best performers emerging as champions.

In the Combustion Vehicle Category of the Karting Race:

- Champion: Team Deuce Racers, LPU Punjab

- Runner-Up: Team Hawks 9.5, Yashwantrao Chavan College of Engineering, Nagpur

In the Electric Vehicle Category of the Karting Race:

- Winner: Team Voltrons, LPU Punjab

- Runner-Up: Team Niyudrath Karting, MIT Pune

For the Formula Imperial 2024 category:

- Champion: Team Screw Drivers, Dhole Patil College of Engineering, Pune

- Runner-Up: Team Ashwamadh, NK Orchid College of Engineering, Solapur

The competition displayed cutting-edge automotive innovation, technical expertise, and racing prowess, with teams from all over India competing at the highest level. The event, a celebration of engineering talent and motorsports, successfully concluded with champions being crowned across multiple categories.
