IPR Workshop on World Intellectual Property Day

Event Date: 17 April, 2025

The Centre for IP and Innovation (CIPI) collaborated with S.S. Rana and Co. on 17th April, 2025 for the conduct of an amazing IPR Worksop to commemorate The World Intellectual Property Day celebrated every year on the 26th of April. This year the theme of celebration is IP and Music: Feel the beat of IP!

From the rhythm that invite us to dance, to the lyrics that echo our emotions, music enriches every aspect of our lives. The session, in tune with the theme of the event, was conducted by conducted by *Ms. Nitika Sinha, Senior Associate*, and *Ms. Asmita Kaur, Associate Advocate* at S.S. Rana and explored the intersection of #intellectualpropertyrights and the #music industry.

Ms. Nitika Sinha delved into the core principles of #Copyright Law, elaborating on critical concepts such as #authorship and #ownership, fair dealing, and referenced key landmark judgments. She also addressed the growing influence of #artificialintelligence in the music industry, and the legal challenges it presents.

Ms. Asmita Kaur provided a comprehensive overview of how different facets of the music ecosystem are protected under various forms of IP rights. Through relatable, real-world examples, she kept the session engaging and accessible for the audience.

We extend our sincere thanks to Ms. Aradhana Galgotia, mentor CIPI, Prof. (Dr.) Aditya Tomar, the associates at S.S. Rana and the entire team of Centre for IP and Innovation that made this event a success.

The efforts of the members of the Centre—Dr. Anuja Misra (Convenor), Mr. Akshat Mehta, and Ms. Shreya Bajpai—were also instrumental in ensuring smooth coordination and logistics.
