IPR & Innovation Workshop

Brief description – 

Institution's Innovation Council , IPR Cell, Galgotias University, Greater Noida and School of Architecture & Design Successfully organized "IPR & Innovation Workshop” on 29th March 2023 from 02:30 AM to 03:30 PM. Approx 29 students and 04 faculties of SOAD had attended this workshop.

The event is started with welcoming of invited speakers Dr. Md. Aftab Alam, IPR cell In charge, Galgotias University and Dr. Gaurav Kumar IIC In charge, Galgotias University.

During the session, Dr. Md. Aftab Alam delivered talk on Intellectual property rights including copyright and patent. He explained the Idea transformation, and use of IPR for research and start-up. He also discussed the procedure of filing national and international patents. 

The session was ended with Vote of Thanks by Ar. Ruchi, Programme Chair of the Department.

Detailed Description – 

An informative "IPR & Innovation Workshop" was effectively conducted on March 29, 2023, by the Innovation Council (IIC) and IPR Cell of the Institution in partnership with the School of Architecture & Design (SOAD) of Galgotias University. The purpose of the session was to cultivate an innovation-driven mindset among students and faculty members and to increase awareness of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). The workshop was attended by approximately 29 students and four faculty members from SOAD.

The distinguished lecturers, Dr. Md. Aftab Alam, IPR Cell In-charge, and Dr. Gaurav Kumar, IIC In-charge at Galgotias University, were warmly welcomed at the event's inception. The session's value was significantly enhanced by their presence and expertise.

Dr. Md. Aftab Alam delivered an exhaustive and insightful lecture on the significance of Intellectual Property Rights in academic and professional settings, including copyrights and patents. He emphasised the strategic role of intellectual property rights (IPR) in research, innovation, and start-up ecosystems, as well as the transformation of ideas into intellectual assets. Additionally, he provided practical advice that was highly beneficial to emerging researchers and innovators, providing a detailed explanation of the procedures for filing both national and international patents.

Ar. Ruchi, the Programme Chair of the Department of Architecture and Design, concluded the session with a vote of thanks. He expressed his gratitude to the presenters and recognised the students and faculty members' active involvement.

Event Outcome – 

The objective of the IPR & Innovation Workshop, which was to increase the awareness and comprehension of Intellectual Property Rights among the students and faculty of the School of Architecture & Design at Galgotias University, was effectively accomplished. Participants acquired valuable insights into the significance of safeguarding creative and innovative ideas through patents and copyrights. The session, which was guided by Dr. Md. Aftab Alam, imparted practical knowledge on the process of submitting national and international patents. It also underscored the importance of intellectual property rights (IPR) in the development of a start-up culture and research. The symposium was a significant step towards the cultivation of innovation and entrepreneurship within the academic community, as the interactive discussion prompted students to engage in critical thinking regarding the transformation of their ideas into intellectual assets.
