Galgotias School of Nursing organized an Expert Talk on “Management of Diabetic Emergencies” on 20 November 2025 under the guidance of Dr. Lekha Bist, Dean, School of Nursing. The session was coordinated by Dr. Anjum Abbasi, with the keynote delivered by Dr. Usha Prabhakar, Director, Ujala Cygnus Health Care Services. The event aimed to enhance awareness about diabetic emergencies and preventive lifestyle measures among nursing students.

Event Detailed Description

The event commenced with a warm welcome, followed by an insightful session by Dr. Usha Prabhakar. She discussed in detail:

- The rising burden of Diabetes Mellitus.

- Importance of lifestyle modifications such as balanced diet, regular exercise, weight control, and stress management.

- Early identification of diabetes symptoms and prevention strategies.

- Comprehensive explanation of Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), including signs, symptoms, clinical findings, and emergency management steps.

Students from B.Sc Nursing III and VII semesters participated actively. The session included interactive discussions, real-life clinical scenarios, and a question–answer segment that enhanced clinical understanding and practical skills. The talk successfully linked theoretical knowledge with real-world emergency management.

Implementation

The event included an expert lecture, interactive discussions, and reflection sharing by students. It strengthened clinical learning and enriched students’ knowledge of diabetic emergency care.
