Event report on International Nurses day and Oath Taking Ceremony

The Galgotias School of Nursing commemorated International Nurses Day on May 17, 2025, aligning with the global observance held annually on May 12 to honor the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing. This year's theme, as declared by the International Council of Nurses (ICN), was “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies,” emphasizing the pivotal role nurses play in healthcare systems and the importance of their well-being

The celebration commenced at 2:00 PM in the Old Auditorium, graced by esteemed guests, faculty, and nursing students. The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the light and guidance nurses provide in healthcare.

Prof. Dr. Lekha Bisht, Dean of the School of Nursing, welcomed the attendees and highlighted the significance of the day's theme. She emphasized the need for strategic investments in nursing to enhance healthcare outcomes and economic resilience. The Chief Guest, Dr. Harinder jeet Goyal, shared her insights on the evolution of nursing education and the challenges faced by the profession. She underscored the importance of continuous professional development and the role of nurses in shaping the future of healthcare.

The event featured a series of cultural performances by nursing students, including folk dances and individual performances, celebrating the diverse heritage and unity within the nursing community.

Awards were presented to students excelling in attendance in academics and clinical practice, acknowledging their dedication and commitment to the nursing profession. Also award distribution was done for the winners of quiz, rangoli and mehndi competitions, These recognitions aimed to motivate students to uphold the values and standards of nursing excellence.
