Event brief description: The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, organised a special ‘Digital India Talk Show’ at the Block-C Auditorium on 17 October 2025, as a part of the nationwide initiative to celebrate 10 years of the Digital India Programme and to create mass awareness among students regarding India’s digital transformation. The session was conducted jointly under the coordination of the School of Computing Applications and Technology (SCAT) and the School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE). A total of 225 students and faculty members were present during the event.

This Talk Show highlighted how NeGD plays a central role in digital governance across the nation by supporting programme management and implementation of e-Governance projects, and by providing technological and advisory assistance to various ministries, state departments, and allied organizations. The session also showcased India’s major digital platforms developed and managed by NeGD, which include DigiLocker, UMANG, OpenForge, API Setu, Poshan Tracker, Academic Bank of Credits, National Academic Depositories, National AI Portal, myScheme, India Stack Global and more. These platforms have transformed service access, record management, and digital delivery mechanisms for millions of citizens.

The objective of this awareness event was to promote deeper engagement between the Government of India and the youth, who represent the future innovative workforce of the nation. Students gained insights into how Digital India has created new digital infrastructure, enabled transparent governance, and opened opportunities for innovation-driven careers in the fields of information technology, data science, artificial intelligence, and public technology-driven services.

Event Detailed Description

Objectives: To spread awareness on Digital India

Agenda:

The agenda of the Digital India Talk Show was to introduce students to the vision, evolution, achievements, and impact of the Digital India Programme over the past ten years. The session aimed to familiarise participants with major national digital platforms created under NeGD and MeitY, and to explain how these platforms strengthen digital governance, improve public service delivery, and enable innovation. The agenda included an introduction to India Stack and its role in transforming digital services, followed by discussions on emerging opportunities in national-level e-Governance, citizen-centric design, digital public infrastructure, and AI-driven development, with a focus on student participation and awareness.

Event Outcome: 

The outcome of the session was an increased awareness and understanding among students regarding the Digital India ecosystem and the major public digital platforms powering governance and service delivery in the country. Students developed clarity about the importance of digital public infrastructure, API-driven integration, and citizen-centric digital platforms. The session generated interest in e-Governance initiatives and motivated students to explore career and research opportunities in national digital programmes, AI, and emerging technologies. Faculty members also gained insights into the future direction of digital transformation and how academic institutions can align with national digital priorities for research collaborations and skill development.
