The event was graced by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal, Judge, Supreme Court of India, as the Chief Guest. The programme commenced with an overview of the activities conducted during Constitution Law Week and Human Rights Week, presented by Dr. Priyam, followed by the felicitation of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal and Mr. S. K. Singhi, Partner, S. K. Singhi & Partners, LLP.

Prof. (Dr.) Aditya Tomer, Dean, School of Law, welcomed the gathering and emphasized the Constitution as a living document that continues to guide Indian democracy. Sh. Suneel Galgotia, Hon’ble Chancellor, reflected on the intrinsic interrelationship between constitutional values and human rights. In his keynote address, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal spoke on the evolution and judicial protection of human rights, constitutional remedies, and contemporary legal education, highlighting experiential learning and responsible use of technology. The programme also featured the presentation of reports of Constitution Law Week and Human Rights Week, certificate distribution to competition winners, the release of a book on Comparative Law, and the School’s magazine Legal Bugle, concluding with a vote of thanks.

The School of Law, Galgotias University successfully organized the concluding ceremony of the month-long Constitution Day Celebration and Human Rights Week on 19 December 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM, at the Vivekananda Auditorium, Galgotias University, Greater Noida. The event brought together students, faculty members, legal professionals and dignitaries to reflect upon constitutional values and the evolving discourse on human rights.

The programme commenced with an introductory address by Dr. Priyam, who presented a comprehensive overview of the activities conducted during Constitution Law Week and Human Rights Week. This was followed by the presentation of tokens of appreciation to Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal, Judge, Supreme Court of India, the Chief Guest for the occasion, and Mr. S. K. Singhi, Partner, S. K. Singhi & Partners, LLP. Prof. (Dr.) Aditya Tomer, Dean, School of Law, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing that the Constitution is not merely a legal document but a living instrument that adapts to societal needs. Sh. Suneel Galgotia, Hon’ble Chancellor, highlighted the deep interrelationship between constitutional values and human rights and underscored their relevance in contemporary governance.

In his keynote address, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal spoke extensively on contemporary methods of legal education, stressing experiential learning, mentorship, and the cautious use of artificial intelligence. He traced the evolution of human rights from their international recognition under instruments such as the UDHR and ICCPR to their constitutional embodiment in Articles 14 to 32, Articles 51(c) and 253 of the Indian Constitution. He explained the wider scope of Article 226 in comparison to Article 32 and elaborated on the judicial expansion of human rights through landmark judgments including Bank Nationalisation, Maneka Gandhi, Sunil Batra, Sheila Barse, Francis Coralie, and Sukanta Kanya, along with environmental and rights-based decisions such as M.C. Mehta, Chameli Singh, Vishaka, Bandhua Mukti Morcha, Bodhisattwa Gautam, Daniel Latifi and Om Prakash.

He further referred to recent constitutional pronouncements including K.S. Puttaswamy, Anuradha Bhasin, Kaushal Kishor and T.N. Godavarman, connecting them to the constitutional journey that began on 26 November 1949 and seminal decisions like Kesavananda Bharati. Emphasizing Article 142 and Fundamental Duties under Article 51A, he reminded the audience of the need to balance rights with responsibilities. The address also touched upon increased access to legal resources through e-SCR, neutral citations and live streaming of court proceedings, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session with students.

Thereafter, reports of Constitution Law Week and Human Rights Week were presented by Mr. Rupendra and Dr. Harsh respectively. The ceremony also witnessed the distribution of certificates to winners of the National Essay Writing Competition and Debating Competition, the release of a book on Comparative Law, and the launch of the School’s magazine Legal Bugle. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Mansi.
