A Seminar on World Cervical Cancer Month

Event brief description 

The School of Nursing at Galgotias University successfully organized a series of awareness activities on Cervical Cancer Prevention on 23rd and 25th September 2025. These events aimed to educate and sensitize nursing students about cervical cancer, its risk factors, preventive strategies, and the importance of HPV vaccination.

On 23rd September 2025, a Poster Competition on cervical cancer awareness was held. Students actively participated and presented posters highlighting causes, prevention, and screening methods. Stuti from the 1st semester secured the 1st prize, while Dolkar from the 3rd semester achieved the 2nd prize. 

On 25th September 2025, an expert seminar was organized with Dr. Md. Kausar Neyaz, Ph.D., Founder and Managing Director of Aabir Bio-Services Foundation (ABSF), as the keynote speaker. 

Event Detailed Description

Dr. Neyaz is an eminent researcher with over two decades of experience in molecular biology and cancer research, specializing in the characterization of tumor suppressor genes in HPV-infected cervical cancer.

During the seminar, Dr. Neyaz provided in-depth insights into cervical cancer and its prevention. He emphasized the role of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) as the leading cause of cervical cancer and highlighted the importance of HPV vaccination, regular screening, early detection, and accessible treatment. He also shared details about the initiatives of ABSF, which works towards creating a cervical cancer-free future for women and girls in India, especially among underprivileged communities.

The activities proved to be highly informative and impactful, broadening students’ knowledge and motivating them to actively participate in community-level awareness programs

Acknowledgments

The events successfully reinforced the message that cervical cancer is preventable througheducation, vaccination, and screening.

Students from various semesters attended the seminar with great interest. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, where students interacted with Dr. Neyaz and clarified their doubts regarding cervical cancer prevention and public health initiatives.
