Galgotias School of Nursing organized a World Health Day awareness programme on 7th April 2026 at Primary Health Centre, Dhankaur, under the theme “Together for Health: Stand with Science.” The event aimed to promote awareness about evidence-based healthcare practices among the community.

The programme included an awareness campaign, health education sessions, and a Nukkad Natak performed by nursing students to highlight the dangers of health myths and misinformation. Key topics such as immunization, diabetes, and hypertension were discussed with community participation.

The event successfully enhanced awareness and encouraged the adoption of scientific approaches for better health and well-being.

Event Detailed Description

Galgotias School of Nursing, Galgotias University, organized a World Health Day awareness programme on 7th April 2026 from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Primary Health Centre, Dhankaur. The event was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Lekha Bist, Dean, School of Nursing, with the objective of promoting awareness about global health issues and encouraging the adoption of evidence-based healthcare practices. The theme for the programme, “Together for Health: Stand with Science,” emphasized the importance of scientific approaches in improving community health outcomes.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by the faculty coordinator, who highlighted the significance of World Health Day and the need to combat health-related myths and misinformation. The session focused on spreading awareness regarding the importance of vaccination, rational use of medicines, and the risks associated with relying on unverified sources such as social media for health information.

A variety of engaging activities were organized to ensure active community participation. An awareness campaign was conducted where nursing students interacted directly with community members, providing accurate health information and addressing their concerns. Educational materials were also distributed to reinforce key health messages.

One of the major highlights of the programme was a Nukkad Natak (street play) performed by the students. Through impactful dialogues and real-life scenarios, the students effectively conveyed the difference between common health myths and scientifically proven facts. The performance attracted the attention of the audience and served as an effective medium to deliver important health messages in a simple and relatable manner.

In addition, nursing students delivered health education sessions on important topics such as immunization, diabetes, and hypertension. They emphasized the importance of early detection, timely vaccination, lifestyle modification, and adherence to prescribed treatment. Interactive discussions were held, allowing participants to ask questions and clarify their doubts, making the session more engaging and informative.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all faculty members, students, and participants for their valuable contributions. Overall, the event was successful in spreading awareness, promoting scientific thinking, and encouraging the community to adopt healthy practices for improved well-being.

Implementation

The World Health Day programme was systematically planned and executed by Galgotias School of Nursing under the guidance of faculty members. Prior to the event, necessary permissions were obtained from the Primary Health Centre, Dhankaur, and responsibilities were assigned to students for smooth coordination.

The implementation began with organizing the venue and arranging educational materials such as pamphlets and posters. Nursing students were divided into groups for conducting different activities, including awareness campaigns, health education sessions, and the Nukkad Natak.

During the programme, students actively interacted with community members to disseminate information on important health topics such as immunization, diabetes, and hypertension. The street play was performed in a public area to attract attention and effectively communicate key messages regarding health myths and evidence-based practices.

Faculty members supervised all activities and ensured the accuracy of the information delivered. Interactive sessions were conducted to address queries and clarify misconceptions among the participants.

Overall, the programme was implemented in an organized and participatory manner, ensuring effective community engagement and successful achievement of the event objectives.

The event effectively highlighted the importance of scientific approaches in healthcare and addressed common myths and misconceptions. Active participation of students and community members made the programme engaging and impactful. Overall, the initiative contributed to enhancing knowledge, fostering positive health behaviors, and strengthening the role of nursing students in community health promotion.
