Programs Offered
The department offers 3 years Bachelor’s degree program in journalism and mass communication, 2 years PG program, and a doctoral degree program. The department has introduced two new programs, B.A. in Strategic Communication, and B.A. in Film Production and Theatre in the year 2023 as per the demand of the industry. The program offers specializations in Journalism, Entertainment & strategic communication. It includes multimedia storytelling, strategic communication, Fiction & TV production, advertising, corporate communication, public speaking and street-play communication research, and other traditional courses of Mass Communication.
Infrastructure
The department has a media studio to facilitate the students giving environment of a newsroom. Students learn the anchoring skill and produce short videos of their small programs. The department comprises of a graphics lab in which Mac computers are provided for non-linear editing. Students shoot the video of their short programs and then they edit using the non-linear editing software. A podcast studio is also there where students record their audio programs and broadcast them on the YouTube channel.
Outcome-based Learning
Students get both theoretical as well as practical knowledge during their study. Outcome-based learning is adopted as per the guidelines of the UGC. The course also provides hands-on training to build and develop media skills to give an international perspective to newer learning standards. The course imparts aspiring filmmakers with the latest knowledge and techniques in Film Technology. The courses are designed to develop students into mature professionals equipped with the required abilities to meet their professional goals.
The Department has been taking the feedback of industry experts on its curriculum from time to time and has been including their suggestions for updating of curriculum. The media experts are part of the Board of Studies (BOS) of the Department of Mass Communication.

Galgotias University believes in giving its students the much-required exposure in terms of real-life experiences shared by professionals, celebrities and other successful people. It, therefore, organises guest lectures for the students wherein they get to know the real-life incidents and perspectives of these guests. Eminent industry giants and corporate professionals are invited to deliver informative lectures that help the students relate theoretical learning with the actual outside environment. The lectures are followed by interactive sessions where the students can clear their doubts and get answers to their questions.
Educational Trips/Field Visits
The Department of Mass Communication has been organizing field visits & educational trips for students at regular intervals. This helps the students discover new places, enjoy a break from the routine and get a better understanding of varied cultures and traditions followed across the world. The University believes that excursions and field trips expose the individual to real-life situations which are theoretically explained in the classroom. The excursions become the basis of interactive learning and help the students to enrich their intellect. Educational trips also act as a strong medium of social interaction. They help to foster team spirit and coordination and planning in the individuals. Students have visited the newsrooms of News24, Amar Ujala, and Dainik Jagran. Students have participated in the live programs of AajTak as an audience.
