About the Programme

The B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication is a professionally-focused 3-year undergraduate programme me designed to prepare students for the fast-evolving media and communication industry. With a strong emphasis on practical learning and industry exposure, the course equips students with essential skills in news reporting, media writing, editing, digital content creation, public relations, and multimedia production. From newsroom simulations to real-world projects and internships, students gain hands-on experience across print, broadcast, digital, and social media platforms. The curriculum also integrates media ethics, communication strategy, and audience engagement—ensuring graduates are not only job-ready but future-ready.

Students with a CUET / SAT (DI Code - 71057 ) score will be given preference in the merit list

For Migration from Other Universities:
1) B.A (JMC) Ist yr. minimum 50% marks or 5.0 CGPA on a 10 point scale
2) 50% or above at XII level in Best Four relevant subjects

Programme Objectives

To provide foundational and advanced knowledge in journalism, mass communication, and media studies relevant to today’s media landscape.

To develop professional skills in news writing, reporting, editing, visual storytelling, public relations, and digital media production.

Programme Outcomes

Media knowledge: Identify and interpret the media sources, message, channel and audience.

Content Development: Design/produce message/content for Print, Radio, Television, Film, and Multimedia as per the need of audience

Conduct investigations of complex problems: Integrate research-based knowledge and research methods including experiments, analysis and interpretation of media content and data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex media and communication problems (print, electronic and new media) with appropriate consideration for human rights, disaster management, data analytics, health communication, cultural, societal, and environmental communication.

Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques and tools to record, edit, share, broadcast/publish and analyse the media content (electronic, print and social media) with an understanding of the limitations.

Project management and finance: Synthesize knowledge and understanding of the media and communication principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage core media projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

Environment and sustainability: Elaborate the impact of the professional media and communication solutions for societal and environmental contexts; demonstrate the media knowledge for promotion of sustainable development.
