Report on Session: “Study, Work, and Build Your Future in Japan”

A highly informative and engaging session on “Study, Work, and Build Your Future in Japan” was successfully conducted on 5th May 2026 at C-012, New Auditorium, Swami Vivekananda Auditorium, C Block, Galgotias University, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The session was delivered by Ms. Eriko Noda, CEO of Erish Solutions Inc. and Director of Erish Consultancy and Solutions Private Limited, Tokyo, Japan.

The session commenced with Ms. Noda addressing the current employment scenario in India, highlighting recent trends related to rising unemployment and layoffs across various sectors. She explained how economic fluctuations and industry shifts have created uncertainty for job seekers, making it essential for students to explore global career opportunities and diversify their skill sets to remain competitive in the job market.

Moving forward, the session primarily focused on the growing demand for skilled professionals in Japan, especially in sectors like Nursing and Hotel Management. Ms. Noda emphasized that Japan is facing a shortage of workforce due to its aging population and expanding service industry, thereby opening significant opportunities for international candidates, particularly from India.

One of the major highlights of the session was the detailed explanation of job opportunities and salary packages. Students were informed that Japan offers attractive compensation, which translates into a strong earning potential when converted into INR. Along with competitive salaries, candidates benefit from structured work environments, professional growth, and long-term job security.

Ms. Noda also elaborated on the requirements and eligibility criteria for working in Japan. For nursing roles, relevant academic qualifications and Japanese language proficiency (such as JLPT certification) are essential. Similarly, for hotel management roles, strong communication skills, discipline, and adaptability are key requirements. She advised students to start preparing early, especially focusing on language skills, which significantly enhance employability in Japan.

A crucial part of the session was dedicated to clarifying the cost of living in Japan. Ms. Noda provided a realistic breakdown of expenses, including accommodation, food, and basic daily needs. She explained that while central locations may be expensive, students and professionals can manage their expenses effectively by choosing accommodation approximately 20 minutes away from their workplace, where rent is comparatively lower. Options like shared housing and company-supported accommodations were also discussed.

The session also highlighted the financial advantages and savings potential in Japan. Despite higher living costs, individuals are able to save more due to higher income levels, disciplined spending habits, and structured expense planning. This creates a significant difference and benefit compared to typical earning and saving patterns in India.

Overall, the session provided a comprehensive overview of studying, working, and building a future in Japan. It successfully addressed both opportunities and practical challenges, equipping students with valuable insights. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, leaving students motivated to explore international career pathways and better prepare for global opportunities.
