Savari Silvester Y

Assistant Professor

Savari Silvester Y is an Assistant Professor at Galgotias University, specializing in Medical Laboratory Technology and Microbiology. He holds a B.Sc. in Microbiology from Madras Christian College, Tambaram (affiliated to the University of Madras), and an M.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology from Loyola College, Chennai (also under the University of Madras). He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Microbiology, with a research focus on host immune profiling in drug-resistant tuberculosis.

His professional journey includes significant research contributions at ICMR-NIRT and JIPMER-Puducherry, working on tuberculosis, HIV-TB co-infections, and nuclear medicine-based diagnostics. He also served as a Project Technical Assistant and Research Lab Assistant in these nationally reputed institutes.

As an Active Learning Mentor under the G-SCALE initiative in collaboration with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, he plays a pivotal role in advancing student centric pedagogies across the institution.

  • Effect of Immunomodulator N-acetyl Cystein (NAC) Against Isoniazid Mono-Resistant Strain of Mycobacterium tuberculosis
    (ICMR-NIRT, Bacteriology Department) – Studied antimicrobial effects using microbroth dilution and submitted thesis work.
  • Systems Biology and Immunology of TB Chemoprophylaxis in HIV Infection
    (ICMR-NIRT, Clinical Research Department) – Handled patient enrolment, specimen collection, and data management adhering to GCP standards.
  • Transthyretin Amyloid Cardiomyopathy Study
    (IAEA-JIPMER) – Conducted SPECT/CT imaging and biomarker evaluation for cardiac diagnostics.
  • Evaluation of Sub-national Progress Towards ‘TB-Free’ Status in India
    (ICMR-NIRT) – Assisted in survey data collection, coordination with health departments, and report preparation.
