About the Programme
The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Agriculture (Entomology) is an exciting journey into the world of insects, exploring their intricate roles in agriculture, ecosystems, and human life. This research-intensive program, typically spanning 3 to 5 years, is designed for those passionate about unraveling the mysteries of insect behavior, pest management, and sustainable agricultural solutions. To embark on this journey, candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Agriculture (Entomology) or a related field, with a minimum of 55%–60% marks and qualification in ICAR AICE-JRF/SRF, CSIR-NET, UGC-NET, or other institutional entrance tests. The admission process includes an entrance exam, interview, and research proposal submission, setting the stage for a deep dive into topics such as insect taxonomy, biological control, toxicology, pollination ecology, integrated pest management (IPM), and molecular approaches in entomology. This program not only nurtures scientific curiosity but also prepares scholars for impactful careers in academia, agricultural research, pest management industries, biotechnology firms, and government organizations. Whether combating destructive pests or harnessing beneficial insects for ecological balance, Ph.D. scholars in Entomology become key players in shaping the future of sustainable agriculture and food security.
