Every Cadet A Lifesaver: CPR & Basic Life Support Training Program for NCC Students

The School of Nursing, Galgotias University conducted a CPR and Basic Life Support training session for NCC cadets under the guidance of Dr. Lekha Bist. The session was led by Mr. Vinod Bhatt, Assistant Professor.

The program started with an introduction to emergency care and the importance of immediate response during cardiac arrest. Participants were taught the fundamental steps of Basic Life Support, including:

  • Assessing responsiveness
  • Calling for help
  • Checking breathing
  • Performing CPR

A live demonstration was conducted using mannequins, where cadets learned:

  • Correct hand placement
  • Chest compression techniques
  • Compression rate
  • Rescue breathing

The session was highly interactive, allowing cadets to practice CPR techniques hands-on. This practical exposure significantly improved their confidence and ability to respond in real-life emergencies.

The program successfully transformed cadets into potential first responders capable of saving lives during critical situations.

Implementation

The CPR training program was conducted in offline mode with a combination of demonstration and hands-on practice. Participants were trained in CPR and Basic Life Support techniques using mannequins under expert supervision. Conclusion and Future Recommendations

The CPR Training Program was successfully conducted and proved to be highly effective in enhancing the knowledge and practical skills of NCC cadets in Basic Life Support and emergency response. The hands-on training enabled participants to confidently perform CPR and respond promptly in critical situations.

For future initiatives, it is recommended to organize more such training programs with advanced life support techniques, regular refresher sessions, and inclusion of larger groups of students. Incorporating simulation-based training and interdisciplinary participation can further strengthen practical competence and preparedness for real-life emergencies.
