The Smt. Shakuntala Devi 2nd International Moot Court Competition, 2025, organized by the School of Law, Galgotias University, was a three-day international-level legal event aimed at honing the legal intellect, courtroom acumen, and advocacy skills of aspiring law students.
Anchored in experiential learning and academic rigor, the competition simulated real courtroom proceedings and created an intellectually stimulating atmosphere that bridged the gap between classroom theory and professional legal practice. The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony held at the New Auditorium, Galgotias University, where eminent dignitaries addressed the gathering, stressing the significance of mooting as a vital skill for any aspiring legal professional. Participants were briefed about the courtroom procedures, rules, and decorum to ensure a fair and smooth flow of the event.
Across the three days, the competition progressed through multiple tightly contested rounds. The first day saw the conduct of the preliminary rounds, where numerous teams engaged in legal battles across parallel courtrooms. The participants showcased thorough preparation, critical thinking, and persuasive argumentation as they debated legal issues, cited precedents, and responded to judicial interventions with confidence. Based on their performance in oral pleadings, legal reasoning, and advocacy skills, eight teams were shortlisted for the next stage.
The second day of the competition featured the quarter-final and semi-final rounds. The shortlisted teams demonstrated advanced legal proficiency and analytical depth as they argued before experienced benches. The judges were particularly impressed with the courtroom demeanor, rebuttal strategies, and clarity in the presentation of arguments. As the rounds advanced, four teams earned their place in the semi-finals, and after a set of intense legal showdowns, two teams : TC-257 and TC-258 emerged as the finalists.
The grand finale, held in the Moot Court Hall on 26th April 2025, was a showcase of legal brilliance and poised advocacy. TC-257, appearing as the Petitioner, and TC-258, representing the Respondent, engaged in a compelling exchange of arguments on complex legal issues involving constitutional principles, international law, and statutory interpretation. The bench, comprising eminent legal luminaries, tested both teams with probing questions and hypothetical scenarios. Both sides responded with logical reasoning, legal authorities, and unwavering composure. The final round reflected a professional standard of mooting, with the participants exhibiting exceptional depth of research and persuasive oration.
After careful deliberation, TC-258 was declared the Winner of the competition and awarded a trophy, ₹50,000 cash prize, and internship offers from Scriboard, while TC-257 was declared the Runner-Up and received a trophy and ₹30,000 cash prize. In individual and memorial categories, TC-255 won the Best Memorial (Petitioner), TC-285 was awarded Best Memorial (Respondent), Himanshu Goel from TC-281 was declared Best Speaker (Male), and Harnoor Gerehwal from TC-253 was awarded Best Speaker (Female). Across all days, judges offered detailed and constructive feedback to participants, emphasizing the importance of clarity, structure, composure, and in-depth legal understanding.

The event concluded on a high academic and professional note, leaving a lasting impression on participants, faculty, and attendees. It not only provided a robust platform for competitive advocacy but also strengthened the legal ecosystem of the university by encouraging research, dialogue, and skill-building among law students.
