The Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Club of the School of Law, Galgotias University actively participated in the Lok Adalat organized on 13 December 2025 at the District and Sessions Court, Surajpur, Gautam Buddh Nagar. The participation was undertaken as part of the Clinic’s ongoing efforts to promote experiential legal learning and contribute to accessible justice delivery mechanisms.

During the Lok Adalat proceedings, student volunteers assisted in the settlement of more than ten traffic challan matters and two cases related to the Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL). The students also observed bank settlement procedures, gaining practical exposure to conciliation, negotiation, and settlement processes followed in alternative dispute resolution forums.

The activity provided students with firsthand insight into the functioning of Lok Adalats and highlighted their role in providing speedy, cost-effective, and amicable resolution of disputes. Interaction with litigants enabled students to understand the social relevance of legal aid and the importance of public-oriented justice mechanisms.

This participation reflects Galgotias University’s commitment to practical legal education, social responsibility, and the promotion of alternative dispute resolution as an effective means of ensuring access to justice for all.

Event Detailed Description

The Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Club, School of Law, Galgotias University participated in the Lok Adalat held on 13 December 2025 at the District and Sessions Court, Surajpur, Gautam Buddh Nagar, with the objective of providing students meaningful exposure to court-based alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. The initiative was undertaken to bridge the gap between theoretical legal education and real-world practice.

During the Lok Adalat proceedings, student volunteers actively assisted in the resolution of over ten traffic challan cases and two NPCL-related matters. Under the supervision of legal professionals and court authorities, students observed the settlement process, documentation requirements, and procedural formalities involved in amicable dispute resolution. Additionally, students closely observed bank settlement procedures, which enhanced their understanding of institutional negotiation and compliance mechanisms in financial disputes.

The participation enabled students to engage directly with litigants, thereby helping them appreciate the practical and human aspects of justice delivery. The Lok Adalat environment demonstrated the effectiveness of ADR in resolving minor disputes efficiently, reducing litigation burden, and minimizing time and cost for the parties involved.

The activity also strengthened students’ understanding of professional responsibility, ethical conduct, and the importance of legal aid services. Observing real-time dispute resolution helped students develop practical insight into conciliation-based justice mechanisms and reinforced the significance of Lok Adalats in promoting access to justice.

Overall, the Lok Adalat participation proved to be an enriching experience that significantly contributed to students’ practical legal education and reinforced the social responsibility objectives of the Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Club.
