Kahaanikaar – A Story Writing and Storytelling Competition

The Literary Society of the School of Law, Galgotias University organized Kahaanikaar – an intra-university story writing and storytelling competition on 12th April 2025. The event aimed to celebrate the art of creative narration while providing a platform for students to showcase their imagination, linguistic skills, and dramatic expression.
The competition unfolded in three structured rounds, beginning with submissions of original stories in English and Hindi across diverse genres such as Horror, Romantic Fiction, and Vision 2050. Over 40 students from different schools including Law, Business, and Computer Science contributed thought-provoking entries, including submissions from international students.
Fifteen stories were shortlisted for the final round where participants dramatically enacted their characters, making the event lively and captivating. The presence of distinguished faculty members further enriched the competition as they motivated and guided students. Winners were Ms. Meghana Kandpal (School of Law), Ms. Sukriti Anand (School of Business), and Mr. Shikhar Saxena (School of Business).
The event successfully highlighted the power of storytelling as a unifying cultural tool and created a vibrant platform for creative expression among students.
Event Detailed Description:
Kahaanikaar was conducted on 12th April 2025 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, organized by the Literary Society, School of Law. The competition was designed to encourage students to explore creative writing and performance-based storytelling.
The event was divided into three rounds. In the first round, students submitted original fictional stories in English or Hindi. The themes ranged widely from love, loss, and gothic elements to futuristic imaginings of India’s Vision 2050. More than 40 entries were received, including those from international students, demonstrating the universal appeal of storytelling.
From these, 15 stories were shortlisted for the second and final rounds where participants presented dramatic enactments of their self-written stories. By stepping into the roles of their characters, students delivered powerful performances that captivated the audience with their creativity and expression. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as listeners engaged with narratives that blended imagination and reality.
The event was judged and supported by esteemed faculty members including Dr. Namita Singh Malik, Dr. Ravi Bundela, Mr. Rupendra Singh, and Dr. Mansi Jain Garg. They provided valuable feedback and motivated participants, while also being felicitated with plants as a token of appreciation. The Valedictory Session was graced by Professor Dr. Aditya Singh Tomar, Dean, School of Law, who addressed the students and awarded the winners.
The prize winners were:
- First Prize: Ms. Meghana Kandpal (School of Law) – 'The Loop of the Super Shoe'
- Second Prize: Ms. Sukriti Anand (School of Business) – 'Muskarahat'
- Third Prize: Mr. Shikhar Saxena (School of Business) – 'The Yellow That Never Came By'
The initiative was led by students of the Literary Society – Mr. Shourya Pratap Singh, Mr. Pranay Tripathi, Mr. Vishal Tiwari, and Ms. Ana Imtiyaz – under the mentorship of Dr. Priyam Singh and Mr. Akshat Mehta.
Kahaanikaar promoted inclusivity and creative diversity, linking to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals by fostering innovation, cultural appreciation, and opportunities for youth.
