On May 28, 2025, the School of Nursing, Galgotias University, in association with The Arjan Vir Foundation, successfully organized a full-day program titled “Gift a Life: Stem Cell Donor Drive 2025” to observe World Blood Cancer Day. Held at the Swami Vivekanand Auditorium from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the event focused on awareness, action, and hope in support of stem cell donation and the fight against blood cancer.
The program commenced with opening remarks and a special address by Dr. Renu Luthra, Advisor to the Chancellor, Galgotias University, who spoke about the importance of the event in the context of public health and community service. She appreciated the collaborative efforts of the organizing team and emphasized the potential impact of student participation in such life-saving initiatives.
A key highlight of the program was an inspiring session by Mrs. Simmi Singh, Founder of The Arjan Vir Foundation. She delivered a detailed presentation on the phases of stem cell donation, explaining the procedure from registration to cheek swab sample collection and final donation. Her talk served to dispel myths and fears and encouraged attendees to step forward and “Be Someone’s DNA.”

The second phase of the event saw active participation from students, many of whom registered as stem cell donors by providing DNA samples through cheek swab collection. The process was smoothly conducted with the support of trained staff and volunteers from The Arjan Vir Foundation.
Significantly, students and faculty from the School of Medical Sciences and the School of Allied Health Sciences also took part in the drive, reflecting a united front within the university in support of SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Lekha Bist, Dean, School of Nursing, who expressed her sincere gratitude to Mrs. Simmi Singh, the team from The Arjan VIR Foundation, and all the participating institutions.
