Event Date and year: 8/3/2025
Event brief description
A group of students attended a unique interdisciplinary conference exploring the intersection of Quantum Mechanics and the Ontology of Śūnyatā from Buddhist Philosophy. The event featured distinguished physicists and Buddhist scholars discussing the nature of reality, quantum uncertainty, and the concept of emptiness (Śūnyatā) as described in Madhyamaka philosophy. The sessions covered topics such as wave-particle duality, quantum superposition, observer effects, and non-dualistic interpretations of existence. Engaging in discussions and panel debates, students gained insights into how modern physics and ancient wisdom traditions approach the question of reality. The experience enriched their understanding, fostering a deeper appreciation of both scientific inquiry and philosophical contemplation.
Event Detailed Description
School of Basic Sciences (SBS) students visited the India Habitat Center, New Delhi on 8th March 2025, along with faculty members Dr. Susmita Majaumdar and Shubham Mishra. Attending a conference on Quantum Theory and Buddhist Philosophy offers students a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of science and spirituality. While quantum physics delves into the nature of reality through mathematical frameworks and experimental observations, Buddhist philosophy provides a profound perspective on consciousness, interdependence, and the nature of existence.
Understanding these interdisciplinary concepts can greatly benefit students in their academic and professional journeys.
