About the Programme

The two-year postgraduate programme me in Journalism and Mass Communication trains students to become creative storytellers and media-tech professionals ready for today’s digital media landscape.

The curriculum combines journalistic foundations with practical skills in mobile journalism, podcasting, video production, digital PR, and social media strategy, reinforced through newsroom simulations, studio projects, and industry internships.

With access to modern infrastructure—digital newsrooms, AV labs, editing suites, and podcast studios—students are prepared to produce content for print, TV, web, OTT, and mobile platforms.

The programme me builds platform versatility, visual storytelling, and media fluency, opening career paths in journalism, corporate communication, and digital media entrepreneurship.

To equip students with advanced knowledge and cross-platform skills in journalism, digital storytelling, and strategic communication, enabling them to excel across print, broadcast, digital, and mobile media industries.

To foster creative, critical, and ethical thinking for high-quality content creation using emerging tools and formats such as podcasting, video journalism, social media, data journalism, and AI-assisted production.

To cultivate self-driven media professionals with strong entrepreneurial orientation, capable of launching and managing independent content ventures, digital platforms, or start-ups in the evolving media economy.

To develop research aptitude and analytical skills for academic inquiry, policy analysis, and evidence-based content creation, preparing students for advanced research or teaching in media and communication studies.

Media knowledge: Identify and interpret the media sources, message, channel and audience.

Problem analysis and Solutions: Design solutions for complex media and communication problems (print, electronic and new media) with appropriate consideration for human rights, disaster management, data analytics, health communication, cultural, societal, and environmental communication.

Message Designing: Design/produce message/content for Print, Radio, Television, Film, and Multimedia as per the need of audience.

Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques and tools to record, edit, share, broadcast/publish and analyse the media content (electronic, print and social media) with an understanding of the limitations.

The Media and society: Evaluate contextual knowledge to assess social problems and issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional media practice.

Environment and sustainability: Elaborate the impact of the professional media and communication solutions for societal and environmental contexts; demonstrate the media knowledge for promotion of sustainable development.
