Prof. (Dr.) Hari S. Gaur

Distinguished Professor (Nematology)

Prof. (Dr.)  Hari S. Gaur, currently working as Distinguished Professor in School of Agriculture is an eminent Nematologist, teacher, researcher and manager of higher education institutions. He was a Visiting Scientist at Rothamsted Research, UK.; Project Coordinator; Head of the Division of Nematology; Dean, Post-Graduate School & Joint Director, ICAR- IARI, New Delhi and Vice-Chancellor, SVPUAT, Meerut, Dean, School of Basic Sciences & Research and founder Dean, School of Agricultural Sciences Sharda University, Greater Noida before joining Galgotias University in February, 2023. Over 47 years, he has worked on fundamental and applied nematology and management of research, higher education and extension in agriculture in India and abroad. A highly cited and decorated Prof. Gaur is a passionate teacher and researcher internationally known for his work on solarization, anhydrobiosis, hatching and other survival strategies of nematodes and development of eco-friendly pest management packages. He proved the importance of root-knot nematodes in rice-wheat cropping system in North India, and gave new directions focusing on cropping system based approaches involving modified agronomy and edaphic factors, solarization, organic amendments and biocontrol agents for nematode management in rice, vegetables, pulses, fruit and flower crops; entomopathogenic nematodes for insect pest management; documentation of nematode distribution and biodiversity, demonstrations and transfer of knowledge to farmers and public. He has guided 6 M.Sc. and 14 Ph.D. students. He helped in establishment of India-supported Agricultural University (ANSTAU) in Afghanistan and research institutes in Myanmar and Nigeria. Prof. Gaur has organized about 20 national and 6 international conferences. He has been President, Vice-President, Chief Editor and Fellow of three national and two international professional societies.
