Research Promotion System

Mandatory General Clauses: 

  • A faculty member applying for any of the incentives listed in Sl. No. 1 -10 of the table below must be a regular faculty of GU.
  • For incentive types under Sl. No. 1 – 5, the PhD scholar included in the author/editor list should be a registered student of GU. 
  • Only papers/books/conference proceedings published online (with DOI/Volume no./ISBN/ISSN) with publication date are eligible.

Abbreviations – ESCI: Emerging Sources Citation Index;FDP: Faculty Development Program; GU: Galgotias University; JCR: Journal Citation Reports; JIF: Journal Impact Factor; PI: Principal Investigator; Q1: Quartile-1; Q2: Quartile-2; Q3: Quartile-3; Q4: Quartile-4; STC: Short-Term Course; VAC: Value-Added Course. 

Q1 Journal performs better than at least 75% of journals in that category, based on its JIF score, i.e., Q1 is occupied by the top 25% of journals with the highest JIF. Similarly, Q2 is occupied by journals in the 25% to 50% group; Q3 is occupied by journals in the 50% to 75% group, and Q4 is occupied by journals in the 75% to 100% group.

  • A faculty member who has already claimed incentive as an editor of a book can’t again claim the same as the author of one chapter of the same book.
  • The first author/editor will get 60% of the amount, and the remaining 40% will be equally divided among co-authors/ editors. 
  • If the book/chapter has only one author/editor from GU, they can receive the entire incentive.

  • The main supervisor should be a regular faculty of GU. 
  • A faculty member whose PhD scholar (registered under GU) has defended their thesis is eligible.
  • The main supervisor will get 60% of the amount. The remaining 40% will be equally divided among co-supervisor(s) from GU. 
  • If the thesis has only one supervisor from GU, they can receive the entire incentive.

Research grants (International/National)

5% of grant
  • PI and at least one of the Co-PIs must be a regular faculty of GU.
  • PI will get 60% of the amount, and the remaining 40% will be equally divided among Co-PI(s).

Consultancy project

Convenor of International Conference Organized in GU

  • Only convenors of conferences whose proceedings should be published in the Scopus database are eligible. 
  • The incentive will be provided after the conference proceeding is published in the Scopus database.

Convenor of FDP/STC/VAC/Training Programs/Hands-on Workshops (Minimum of 30 hr. duration) 

5,000/-
  • Only sponsored events by a funding agency are considered not GU-sponsored events. 
  • The incentive will be given to the faculty whose name appears in the “Approval Letter” by the funding agency. 


Note: The above incentives will be awarded only after the recommendation of the scrutinizing committee.
