Visit to Cornerstone India Foundation

School of Education, Galgotias University organized a visit to Cornerstone India Foundation, Knowledge Park I, Greater Noida a special school under extension activity for B.Ed. students. The visit was divided into two groups and the second group went on 25 September 2024 including 14 students to witness the functioning of a special school and to inculcate various methods, strategies and techniques to teach students with different abilities. The visit was organized to let students know more about the functioning of NGOs and to get knowledge of the role and responsibility of an NGO towards the upliftment of society. It was also to get a brief about how teachers can contribute towards the NGOs and society. This NGO is working for special needs children who are disabled with different disabilities.
To begin with, Ms. Shalini Mishra Principal and the trustee of the Foundation Ms. Rakhi welcomed the students. They gave a brief idea about the difference between differently abled and specially abled students. Concepts such as inclusion and integration were also discussed. Skills such as patience and empathy were said to be the most crucial skills that a teacher requires to cater to the diverse needs of learners. Then there was a school visit where ma’am briefed about setting up a special school consisting of various resource rooms such as an occupational therapy lab, computer lab, speech and language therapy lab and sensory room. Students also got the chance to meet various special educators who deal with special students and work with them one-on-one, offering personalized guidance and care. The interactions reflected the school's focus on fostering both academic and emotional growth. Throughout the visit, it was clear that the staff, students, and administrators are deeply invested in creating a nurturing, supportive environment that enables each student to thrive. The visit to Cornerstone India Foundation was a resounding success, showcasing the dedication to promoting inclusive education in every school. The enthusiastic participation from all the students makes this visit a great success.
The dedication and passion of the teachers and staff were truly inspiring, and students greatly appreciated the opportunity to learn from their expertise. The time spent interacting with the students and teachers was incredibly rewarding, and the School of Education is deeply thankful for the openness and kindness they showed throughout the visit.
