Two Weeks Galgotias University Community Health Awareness Campaign on "Reproductive Health, Hygiene and Wellbeing" had started on 6th December 2023 continued till 20th December 2023. The entire initiative was carried out under the aegis of Galgotias University SDG Drive and an ICSSR funded Academic research project from the Ministry of Education, Government of India. This field study for the project is being led by Dr. Manasi Sinha (Principal Investigator) from School of Law and Dr. Pratyush Bibhakar (Co-Investigator) from School of Liberal Education, Ms. Nungsangyula Imchen (Assistant Professor, SOLE). The field study is further supported by Galgotias University's SDG Goal 3 (Health) and SDG Goal 5 (Gender Equality), District Health Unit of Uttar Pradesh Government, and Prakash Hospital, Greater Noida. The two-week community health awareness campaign is carried out by the School of law in collaboration with the School of Nursing, Galgotias University.

Event Detailed Description

Two Weeks Galgotias University Community Health Awareness Campaign on "Reproductive Health, Hygiene and Wellbeing" had started on 6th December 2023 continued till 20th December 2023. The entire initiative was carried out under the aegis of Galgotias University SDG Drive and an ICSSR funded Academic research project from Ministry of Education, Government of India. During the community campaign the research team have been able to reach out to various urban slums of Noida and Greater Noida region particularly: Marhara village in Jewar, Natt ki Marhaiya in Khasna, PHC Jewar, Bironda, Greater Noida, Noida sector- 5, 10, 44. The research and community reach programme was to investigate different knowledge, practices around reproductive health in urban slum areas, how diverse factors affect the decision making of slum dwelling women in matters of reproductive and sexual health, and what are the existing barriers come in way in terms of accessibility and affordability of health care services in the region. A support team including Doctors from Prakash Hospital has also visited the places and had taken stalk of the health status of women, girls in their area. The Community reach campaign was greatly supported by Uttar Pradesh District Health Service, Primary and Community Health care units in the region in identifying the location and reaching out to the potential respondents. The research had received immense response from the community and its people particularly women in their reproductive age from 16-49. The Research team have been extensively engaged in focus group discussion with 120 respondents in the exploration to the subject matter. Besides, the research team have also conducted interview with community Health Workers, including Anganwadi, ASHA workers, ANM Workers who were working in their respective area. The Research Team was led by Dr. Manasi Sinha, principal Investigator for the Project and the lead Coordinator for the SDG Goal 3, Dr. Pratyush Bibakar (Assistant Professor, SOLE) and Co-PI for the project, Ms. Nungsangyula Imchen (Assistant Professor, SOLE). The two-week community health awareness campaign is carried out by School of law in collaboration with School of Nursing, Galgotias University.
