Event Date: 13th - 14th March 2024

Students of School of Agriculture BSc (Hons) Agriculture Sem II had the privilege of participating in a two-day hands-on training program at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Choulas, which provided a comprehensive learning experience in modern agricultural practices and technologies. The visit commenced with an insightful orientation session, where the KVK's mission and activities were outlined, and we had the opportunity to meet experienced trainers and fellow participants.

Visit primarily focused on field visits and practical activities. Students visited demonstration plots showcasing various innovative farming techniques such as organic farming, integrated pest management, and efficient irrigation methods. Engaging in hands-on activities like soil sampling, seed sowing, and applying fertilizers under expert guidance enhanced our understanding of these practices.

Additionally, workshops and seminars were conducted on topics like sustainable agriculture, climate-smart farming, and market linkages, enriching our knowledge and providing valuable insights into the agricultural sector's challenges and opportunities.

Students learned about precision farming, the use of drones, soil health management, and animal husbandry practices. Visits to agricultural markets and agro-processing units offered exposure to market dynamics, post-harvest management, and value chain analysis.

Practical demonstrations of farm machinery and tools, along with interactive Q&A sessions, enabled us to clarify doubts, share feedback, and discuss implementation strategies. The visit concluded with a renewed enthusiasm to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in their respective agricultural endeavours, contributing to sustainable farming practices and enhanced productivity.

Overall, the two-day training experience at KVK Choulas was highly informative, engaging, and enriching, providing a holistic view of modern agriculture and empowering the students with practical tools and techniques to thrive in the ever-evolving agricultural landscape.
