About the Programme

The B.Sc. (Hons. with Research) Forensic Science with specialization in Forensic Toxicology and Explosives is a comprehensive program designed for students seeking expertise in the detection and analysis of toxic substances and explosive materials. This research-oriented course combines strong theoretical foundations with intensive hands-on training in state-of-the-art laboratories equipped for chemical analysis, toxicological screening, and explosive residue examination.

Students gain practical experience in identifying poisons, drugs, chemical agents, and explosives through advanced instrumentation and simulated forensic casework. The program emphasizes experiential learning, analytical precision, and the legal aspects of handling hazardous substances, while also encouraging students to undertake independent research projects in their final year.

Graduates are well-prepared for careers in forensic science laboratories, anti-terrorism units, law enforcement agencies, environmental monitoring organizations, pharmaceutical industries, and chemical analysis firms. The program also provides a solid foundation for pursuing postgraduate studies and research in forensic toxicology, analytical chemistry, or explosives science.

As the need for skilled professionals in crime detection, public safety, and homeland security grows, this specialization equips students with the scientific knowledge and research capabilities to address complex challenges in both criminal and environmental investigations.
