Dr. Shubhrangana Pundir

Assistant professor

Dr. Shubhrangana Pundir is an Assistant Professor, at the School of Legal Studies, Galgotias University, Greater Noida. She completed her Ph.D. in Law at Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur, with her thesis titled “Sexual and Reproductive Autonomy of Married Women in India: A Socio-Legal Study” in 2024. Her LL.M. is from the Central University of Haryana with Constitutionalism and Human Rights as a specialisation and her LL.B. is from Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar, M.P. She also has her bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Delhi.

Her Ph.D. is aimed towards evaluating and analysing the autonomous power of women in exercising their sexual and reproductive rights, which incidentally touch upon crucial issues such as the right to consensual sex, the right to equality, the right to work and economic independence, the right to abortion and contraception among many others.

She works at and around the intersection of Law and Humanities, teaching and researching Feminist Legal Theory, Emotions and Law, and decolonial and post-colonial feminisms.

Her areas of interest and teaching include Jurisprudence, Human Rights and Constitutional Law.

During her Ph.D. she was a Teaching Associate and taught Gender Justice and Feminist Jurisprudence to students of B.A.LL.B. at DNLU, Jabalpur.

As a college student, she was actively engaged in scholarly and extracurricular activities at Delhi University. She was responsible for curriculum development for the English Literature (Honours) Program and actively participated in debates and anchored various Literary events. She was appointed President of the Debating Society and was the Secretary of the Dramatics and Film Society. She has staged and acted in plays on William Shakespeare, Kalidasa, Mohan Rakesh, Samuel Beckett and Christopher Marlowe among others at the South Campus, Delhi University. During her Master’s Degree, she has anchored the Annual Day Function and other University events. She has adjudicated in the NHRC-DNLU National Moot Court Competition and conducted a 3-day Young Advocates Training Program on Advocacy Skills (Criminal and Civil Trial) at the Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur.

Passionate about working for Gender Justice, she has conducted a Seminar on Menstruation and Human Rights in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission at the Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur and delivered lectures as keynote speaker for a 2 Day Seminar for the Adolescent Girl Program: Gender Sensitisation and Menstrual Health and Hygiene at the P.M. Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Central Ordinance Depot, Jabalpur.

Dr. Pundir has published papers in UGC peer-reviewed Journals, titled, Sexual Autonomy of Married Women in India: Contemporary Constitutional Challenges and Assisted Reproductive Technology and Women’s Reproductive Health.

She is an insatiable and avid reader and soundly believes that “between the pages of a book is a lovely place to be.” She loves to dance and is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer. Public speaking is also her attribute.

She is an alumna of The Convent of Jesus and Mary, New Delhi.
