Professor Abhay Kumar is currently a Professor at the School of Liberal Education under the subject domain of Political Science. His areas of interests are federalism, party politics, local governance and environmental issues. Of late he has been extensively writing on migration and diaspora studies. He has written a book on Environmental Issues in India and contributed chapters in many books. He has been regularly presenting papers in international and national conferences. He believes field work and empirical studies gives better understanding of social and political realities of societies. He has done many election studies sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and National Commission for Women (NCW). He has worked on many projects supported by different agencies including Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi and Arts and Humanities Research Council, UK and Indian Council of Historical Research, India. Professor Kumar is a recipient of ICSSR doctoral fellowship. He was conferred best Faculty Award by University of Delhi and SIFE/ Enactus, an international organisation promoting social entrepreneurship in higher education. He has delivered many talks for All India Radio and probationers of National Academy for Training and Research in Social Security. Prof. Kumar has been a member of Board of Studies of many Universities and associated with many Non - Governmental Organisations. He is a member of Delhi Management Association and Foundation for Restoration of National Values.
