The Department of Biotechnology & Bioengineering, School of Biosciences & Technology, in collaboration with the School of Computer Science & Engineering and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at Galgotias University, successfully organized an orientation session on the Samsung ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ Innovation Challenge on June 6, 2025. The session was held from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM and witnessed active participation from a total of 324 students. The primary objective of the session was to empower young minds with essential 21st-century skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and creative ideation through the application of design thinking methodologies. The session was conducted by Ms. Vanita Vasudeva, Program Consultant at the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi.

The Department of Biotechnology & Bioengineering, School of Biosciences & Technology, in collaboration with the School of Computer Science & Engineering and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at Galgotias University, successfully organized an orientation session on the Samsung ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ Innovation Challenge on June 6, 2025. The session was conducted by Ms. Vanita Vasudeva, Program Consultant at the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi. She provided a comprehensive introduction to the Samsung 'Solve for Tomorrow' competition, a national innovation platform that invites students aged 14 to 22 to ideate and propose technology-driven solutions to pressing societal issues. Ms. Vasudeva emphasized the importance of innovation in addressing real-world challenges and highlighted how students can channel their creativity into impactful contributions through this prestigious competition.

During the session, students were introduced to the four key themes of this year’s competition: AI for a Safer, Smarter, and Inclusive Bharat; Future of Health, Hygiene, and Well-being; Social Change through Sports and Tech for Education; and Environmental Sustainability via Technology. Ms. Vasudeva guided participants through the fundamentals of design thinking, encouraging them to identify real-life problems in their communities and ideate feasible solutions using technological interventions. The session also focused on sensitizing students to the broader societal impact of their ideas and inspiring them to take ownership of creating positive change.

The event was interactive and engaging, with students actively participating in brainstorming activities and discussions. Many students expressed their enthusiasm to take part in the competition and appreciated the opportunity to learn from an expert facilitator. The session concluded with a Q&A segment, where several queries regarding the competition structure, eligibility, and submission guidelines were addressed. The application deadline for the competition was also shared, which is June 30, 2025.

Overall, the orientation session was a great success, fostering a spirit of innovation and motivating students to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development through technology. The collaboration between Samsung India, FITT-IIT Delhi, and Galgotias University served as a powerful platform to ignite young minds and encourage them to become future changemakers.
